I didn't go last night and will I NEVER go to Port until Razor Steve is gone!   Larson ran away with it last night.  I for one am glad Larson comes to PA !  He makes everyone run harder.  If you are off your game a little he will pass you and let you see his tailtank....that is if you can stay close enough.

In the top 5 at Port last night.  I don't hate the outlaws, just really like when they get a spanking like they did last night!

1 - Traveler - Non Posse or Outlaw

3 - Posse - 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

1 - Outlaw - Sheldon was 5th.

Top 10

1 - Traveler - Non Posse or Outlaw

6 - Posse

3 - Outlaws

Looks to me like that was pretty much Domination of the Outlaws.

Kyle Larson said "Port Royal is in my top 3, 4 or 5 tracks in the country." Flo says, the Port Royal shows are some of their most viewed broadcasts. They must be doing something right:-) Just saying....

He races on a lot of asphalt tracks as well.  Wonder if he was comparing them to the asphalt tracks?

Here is the best two prepared tracks in the Nation.

1. Knoxville

2. Eldora

No one else is even close.

After Wednesday night the average starting position at Lincoln and Port Royal

Lincoln - 6.44 in 18 Races

Lincoln has been won from

13th starting spot - once

10th starting spot - 3 times

8th starting spot - 5 times

6th starting spot - 2 times

Port - 4.53 in 17 Races

Port has been won from

8th starting spot - 2 times

7th starting spot - once

6th starting spot - 4 times

Just for comparison purposes.  I am not trying to start anything just showing the results.

Now back on subject, I really like to see the outlaws get beat!  Especially in Central PA.  Eldora was fun too, watching Marks take home the big prizes!

To be fair, I think the difference may have more to do with track size. It seems like the winner is more likely to come through the field if the leader hits lap traffic on the 4th lap.

Track prep has a lot to do with it too.  Lincoln has it wetter at the beginning of the night.

Yeah no one can pass in the heats so the big dogs have to start farther back in the feature.

The worst they can start in a heat is 8th.   The times I have been there most times the big dogs qualify without a problem.  That is the nice thing...they will not put more than 8 cars in a heat.

BTW - Lincoln has had at two TT shows where the winner started 10th and 13th.

I can see we're back to our regularly scheduled programming of posts about Central PA track prep that have nothing to do with the original thread.

Cool.

I may be wrong but, the oultaws could have been at one of these tracks this week.  And then someone brought up what Larson said.

I was showing the average starting positions at two tracks the outlaws go to each year.

"No one else is even close" You haven't been to California then, especially the tracks in the northern and central part of the state. As for Eldora being one the"best prepared tracks in the nation", remember this from late May of this year? I'm sure Josh Richards does. https://www.dirtondirt.com/dirtwire.php?id=6861

No I have never been to CA.

Eldora fixed that problem about a month ago.  That is the great thing about Tony.  If the new clay doesn't work out he will remove it.

I've been to all the major dirt tracks around the country(Knoxville, Eldora, Bristol, Charlotte, Pevely, Devils Bowl, Jackson, Terre Haute, Fairbury, Kokomo) and after talking to many race fans at these tracks, I was shocked to hear them say they wanted to watch a race at Port Royal!! Nobody mentioned Lincoln? Some mentioned Williams Grove, but all of them said Port Royal visit first.. I guess these fans don't have an ax to grind. Funny how most of the Sprint Car drivers speak so highly of the Port(including Kyle Larson)..

(p.s. I've eaten a ton of dust at Eldora, but the racing is great! I guess you could get a little dust at the Port once in a while)

Do you still think heat races are unimportant?  I swear I see drivers racing pretty hard to qualify through them.

You don't know poop about track prep, you go to a few tracks and thats it. Small little world you live in.

36 cars at the Grove.  How many were at Port Wednesday night?  33 I believe was the number for every driver loving the place.   Hmmm seems they like the Grove a little better. I believe Port paid 20 grand and the Grove is paying 10 grand tonight.  Just saying!!!!

Next you are going to tell me the track didn't go away during TT at port.   You would be wrong on that as well.

I have seen and been to a lot of races since 1982.  I can tell when the effort is not there for prep......

I enjoy watching the outlaws come in and get beat. The crowd gets into it and the atmosphere is great. My complaint when the outlaws come east is they don't schedule enough races in pa. They, the woo and pa promotors, could hype that deal up easily.  I would love to see them go to Selinsgrove, Lincoln, Grandview and a place I think has 1 of the best 1/4 mile bullrings in the country, Path Valley. Yea, I know the facility couldn't hold a show of that magnitude, but the racing would be fantastic. Not including Selinsgrove and Lincoln is something I will never understand, yet they go into new York and try to fill the fields with cars that don't have a chance in hell to beat the outlaws.

I can't help but laugh every single year about the hatred for the World of Outlaws.   Every year, droves of sprint car fans flock to the social media boards to bash them.  I'm not really sure what fans want?  We:

1.  Want better purses-----but we curse corporate involvement.

2.  Want better purses-----but we curse the Outlaws who generally have the biggest purses.

3.  Complain about the lack of attendance at dirt events all over the country--------when the Oultaws bring close to sold out crowds everywhere they go.

4.  Complain about the Outlaws participation rules, even though they have built a viable, professional business model that most responsible business men and women would endorse.

5.  Cry favoritism for work area rule infractions----when no one can actually point out a single work area rule infraction  (Please don't bring up maximum time allowed examples because in the rules, there is no maximum time only a minimum)

6.  Bitch, moan, and complain about souvenir trailer rules----when not a single one of us runs a souvenir trailer business---and if you do, the outlaws did not stop you from selling t-shirts.  (and if they did, see #4)

7.  Forget where our drivers are or were---------all of the sudden, everyone from PA is a Marks fan?  And he is kicking the outlaws asses?  Where the F#$$# was he when he was a full time outlaw?  Don't get me wrong, I love BM and was present for his first Outlaw win (and cheered him on because he was an Outlaw) , but I have never seen a bunch of coat-tail riding bastards in my life.  Are Schuchart and Allen Posse or Outlaws?  Just curious in case they win something big so I know what side to root for.  If Logan or Jacob win the Nationals, are we going to have to listen to Posse crap, or will everyone acknowledge that they are Outlaws?  Or, is this subjective to however everyone from Eastern PA is feeling?

if you treat them like the only game in town. all of you will eventially be disappointed.  they are not!

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Track prep has a lot to do with it too.  Lincoln has it wetter at the beginning of the night.

Not that at all. Everybody can run a line and run fast when the wing can do its thing in clean air with speed. Get on a slower track where the wing doesn't matter as much and things get very different. Thats why the racing is usually better on the 1/2 miles once cars start getting into traffic.
