Someone mentioned earlier in this thread about C. Bell's clean cut appearance making him popular.  With dirt track racing's top series getting so much exposure around the country on Floracing and the other live streamed media, why do so many of these drivers present themselves looking like they just stumbled out of a single-wide in Appalachia? Is it to create an image for themselves or their sponsors, or for the lifestyle of a rough and tough traveling racer? It takes 5 minutes to grab a shave in the morning, or to trim existing facial hair.

If this is done on purpose to exacerbate the "image", I'm okay with that. Just curious, as it seems to have become more prolific over the past couple of years.

Look around you. That's the style that's in right now. That would feed right into the targeted demographics their advertisers are seeking.

I can't disagree, Murphy.  That's why I asked the question.  Thanks for your input.

I think some of the CBell hate is fan induced by a couple idiot social media people that try to make a rivalry between him and Larson. This of course was prior to this year and some of the run-ins they had at the cup level but I remember one in particular has a special distain for Kyle Larson and everytime he would have a bad finish This person would celebrate it and talk about how CBell was better than Larson and the dirt track/sprint car world should get behind Bell instead of Larson, and even called Larson a sellout. Their were others although not as mentally ill as the one individual I am thinking of and it started getting bad around Chili Bowl time when Bell was winning and Kyle finished 2nd.

I think some fans think that you can either like 1 or the other when you can actually like both. I have never really had a problem with CBell and have always taken him as just a shy kid. Although it does seem like he is tired of getting compared to Larson whenever he is on dirt or they are racing around each other. I will say the Gibbs thing does have some weight with me because the drivers for him do kind of rub me the wrong way ever since Bobby Labonte and Tony left that organization.

So coming from a guy who temporarily lived in a single wide in the mountains of North Carolina for a short time… I constantly tried to be clean shaven and business professional to make my way in the world.

One day I gave up and let the hair grow.  Now I’m dating an Instagram model and making some good money in a cool profession!

I’d rather be clean shaven and buzz cut.  I’m so tired of itching and scratching.  But you have to go where the money is at and what the girls want I guess.

While I sense a touch of sarcasm, I will take your post at face value.  I do appreciate a different perspective on the subject that I initially raised. That's all that I was asking for. I'm glad that it has brought you success. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thats how I feel. I'm not gonna hang out with these guys, none of them has asked to marry my daughter, so who cares about their personality or GROOOMING?

I just wanna watch them race!

Hey, don't diss the hillbillies! wink I got started watching dirt track in the Shenandoah Valley of western Va., just one mountain range from the sterotypical coal mining, coon huntin' West Virginians

That said, I heard a good joke while rafting in Southwest Pa., also not far from W.Va

Guess what they found underneath the Governor's Mansion in West Virginia?

Axles..... wink

This made me think of John Lovitz talking about his wife Morgan Fairchild. Smile

My dad was fortunate enough to meet Bell while he was an up and comer and has been his biggest fan since then, even hanging out with him a few times at the World Finals.

From my own personal experience... I rented out a track in the Carolinas last year before the season started to help the newbies in 305s.  Bell found my number and asked if he could practice too.  I said sure if he promised to give advice to all our guys in attendance.   He was excited to help.  Unfortunately we rained out, but track promoters seeing CBell at a Carolina track waiting to practice helped us secure a few winged sprint car dates in the Carolinas because they are hopeful a Kahne or Bell or Larson or Stewart are going to compete with us one day down the road and it might be at their track.

These guys are helping us out so much in the Southeast.  A dead spot for sprint car racing.  Hopefully we can get guys like Bowman investing around the Carolinas and Elliott bringing sprints and midgets to Georgia!

I've been fortunate enough to hangout with the nicest human being in the world, Kahne.  Bell isnt far behind.  Neither is Larson or even Stewart!

Especially when you want to talk sprint car racing...

Finally, something insightful from a driver/promoter perspective.
