First timer this year. Got two questions.

1. seating: bring my own stadium seat?
2. planning on Captani and Osky. Need to buy tickets ahead of time for those?

1. The seats have backs at Knoxville.

2. I always just buy tix for those two races when I show up.

I'm not sure if stadium seats are allowed in Knoxville, but if they are, they are not needed just given the seats have backs.

Definitely don't need tickets ahead of time for Cappy, for Osky, I sometimes get there early the day of the race to check the pits and buy my tickets then because the lines can get long when the gates open. Otherwise, probably not necessary.

Just wondering what are some must do's at the Nationals?

What to see?

What to eat?

What to drink?

I know about the Sprint Car Hall Of Fame, Dingus, the Iowa Beer Bus and Slideways.

Thank you!
See you all soon!

This question comes up each year, so it's worth searching for old posts around this time.

Where are you driving from or staying?

A foam seat cushion is all you need, if anything.

The Steve King cornhole tournament is fun Friday morning in the barn behind turn 4. Get tickets beforehand. Google it for tickets

Don't need a seat back, but bring a butt pad/cushion.  A few years ago Big Game was giving away those foam rubber kneeling pads at their display.  I got hold of two of them.  They make nice seat cushions.

Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

First time I went to Osky, I got a reserved seat..... they're close & way too cramped, so I moved over to a place with more elbow room, much better!

I say go for GA

Not sure about Capitani...probably not necessary, but couldn't hurt

364 days of the year, you do not need to reserve a seat at Knoxville.  Plenty of room for the Cappy.  wink

One day I hope to partake in the full experience. Rolling in for our 2nd Knoxville Nationals Saturday Night, hoping our luck continues as JJR has parked it the last 3 times we've attended the raceway.

If you've neve been too Knoxville, then you have to Take the Bus Tour  that stops at the driver sign in shack in turn 4 under the grandstands. It only comes  once a day.  It leaves there at about 2 am in the morning.  I think the Bus drivers name was Karl Kinser last time I rode on it.  Happiest old guy you'll ever meet at Knoxville.  He Knows everything about it.

We like to go up in the grandstands hours before the racing starts and walk around checking out different vantage points.  Gives you an idea where you might want to try getting seats next year.  Dingus is always fun.  Usually good live music and a bunch of folks that just want to have fun and talk sprintcars.  The midway is the biggest/best you will see at any sprintcar show in the country, so make sure you explore that thoroughly.  Safe travels and I hope you have a great time.  We're heading back for our 7th time, and my wife and daughter agreed it needs to be an every year trip.
