& Congratulations to Sunshine & his team for his biggest winged win ever, by far!

First full season with a wing... who woulda thunk it? Smile

Yep, he was right there just behind Courtney and Gravel.   I know at least a couple of guys here are probably looking for some steak sauce or something else to go with the crow...  ;-)

I eat my crow straight up. Great job DD.

5 guys finished top 10 in both Royals, one of those was Danny Dietrich. He didn't win either, but original poster had people jump down his throat for suggesting Dietrich to be a threat and DD had a great day.

I think McFadden had the car to beat. I think he'd say the same.

I think Sweet had the car to beat but the pressure got to him. As for Dietrich, good for him, he ran well. But the podium was a fluke, as was the whole Sat afternoon debacle. Ridiculous track conditions for a $175k to win show, saved only for the fact that everyone was happy for Sunshine and Tim Clauson. Sat night was amazing and a much better show.

Wow. Tough crowd in here. I am not from PA nor a  Dietrich fan but backing up a podium finish with a top ten finish doesn't seem like a fluke to me. Not to mention he passed a lot of good cars to get on that podium.

I agree, tough crowd here.  DD made an awesome showing for the KR.  He has really stepped up his game here in the middle of 2021 with outstanding runs in 2 speedweeks and the King's Royal.  Not afraid to leave the porch AT ALL and great results to back it up.  I am not even a DD fan, but I am now and respect anyone who can put up good numbers!!

Would love to hear some suggestions on how to make the afternoon show better.  Not much you can do when the sun is beating down on the surface.  The evening show just proves how good the track crew is and what little can be done for an afternoon show in the summer.  What other time could they have run the show?

Must have missed it, but everyone else had to race on those track conditions and DD was +6 in the feature.

Some people like to bash Danny, & I admit I've goofed on him at times myself, but I don't have anything against him. Nobody's perfect.

As for "Double Douche", I think thats a bit harsh. I prefer "Double Doofus" wink

How about their announcement of  88 THOUSAND $ for 50/50??? Thats pretty hard to believe, a potentially life changing amount (definitely so for me!) Considering driver gets 50% or less of winnings, that about equals driver's share...

I was at boring Allstar race in upstate NY a few years ago, & 50/50 was over $7,000, more than entire winning TEAM purse. Pretty sure Dietrich won that one....

I think Sweet definately had a car to beat but do not think the pressure got to him. Having a tire go down is kind of out of your control, and as for the 2nd Kings Royal it looked to me McFadden tried to make a move and bounced off the wall and came into Sweet (Unintentional). A good job by both for saving it and everyone behind them by not running into them. His car came to life after the restart and passed 5 cars in 1 corner then just hung it on the top coming from around 14th to 5th on that last run. Just unforntuate circumstance out of his control but that is racing and its actually nice to see a driver who doesn't pout about it. In the pits he still had a smile on his face and was signing autographs and taking pictures for the kids.

Dietrich did run well and I would agree the podium was a product of fortunate circumstances for him but sometimes you create your own luck which is what he did. I really do not like him or care for his attitude most of the time but he did what he had to do and took advantage of the circumstances.

I wouldn't say the track conditions were ridiculous and mostly a product of having a race in the daytime with the sun shining on it (pun intended) for hours in 80degree weather with humidity. It actually was probably better than what most other places would have been able to do and the only thing that could have been done differently would have been schedule one of the races for Sunday night but I doubt they would have had the crowd. Everyone was on their feet for Sunshine and  the 7BC team and I will say Saturday's show was probably one of the best races as far as racing throughout the field that there has been at Eldora in a long time. I have seen guys move through the field and great battles for the lead but Saturday night as far as guys running side by side, exchanging sliders was probably one of the best from 1st through last.

I know the Saturday afternoon show was decent for the circumstances but a $175k to win show shouldn't be run on a track that's "decent for the circumstances". It's just too much money in a sport with too little of it to justify running it in conditions that lead to fluke endings. Fully agree Saturday night was the best I've ever seen for Eldora, nearly every race was great.

what was wrong with the track conditions?  from a fan perspective...i couldn't see anything in the beginning...but then the dust settled and i got to see a great race.  not sure what the problem was.

brad sweet has multiple championships.  pressure doesn't get to him.

coming off his success in eldora...i'd like to see danny dietrich take over in pa for the last few months of the season.  these guys tend to run great for a while and then disappear.  he has the summer nationals to carry his momentum and hopefully he can back up what he did in eldora by not having to scramble to make the features at williams grove. if he can keep up his success and think twice about what comes out of his mouth or shows up on his twitter...that would be even better.

while i'm here...eldora is an amazing place.  it managed to keep an old school feel while keeping updated with things like appropriate safety upgrades.  nice to see a medical helicopter on site.  they actually act like a reputable sports venue.
