Hey Chris, great to hear from ya'.  Honestly I haven't made a post in this forum in weeks, hardly even looked.  This clown who won't name himself hates me as much as Sammy so I think I am in pretty good company.  Is it time to expose him?????  Nearing the end of my posting days, nice knowing y'all....

First - a couple of things.  It was COLD.   I know a lot of the folks around me left earlier beause they were so cold... so not many folks in the stands by then.  Yes - I agree - too many "support" classes... but each of those cars brings fans to the track.  SECOND - 2 big races rather close.  Less than 200 miles South the World of Outlaws were racing and less than 200 miles Northwest was a big POWRi midget race with the Keith Kunz cars there.  I personally know quite a few folks who went to one or another of these shows.  The Spring Nationals usually draw a big crowd and a lot of sprint cars.  This is also the first time I have ever seen a big "bump" going into corner #1.  Where the contact was made I am thinking that might have been a factor.  I am still not sure who was in the other car.  If it is who I think it was he has been racing for quite some time.   The first time I saw Sammy race he took out his Dad... so don't give me that "I'm a saint" bit.  I have seen Sammy take out a lot of drivers - and after he was a big name.  For me the straw was when he sent Dub May on a horrendous ride at Knoxville in hot laps.   I know drivers all think they are innocent - and maybe Sammy was this time.  It was a scary thing to watch.  Just saying.  I watched the video several times and still not sure.   Oh yes - in another thought - the reason the Devil's Bowl originally put the tires out on the inside of the corners was because Sammy was cutting through the infield to try to gain more positions.  Yes - I'm old.  I've seen a lot of racing but I do remember that night as well.   Now most tracks have the tires out there.  Sammy is a great driver and set up man.  I'll give you that but he is not always innocent.  Ever seen his antics at the Chili Bowl or at the Short Track Nationals?   Okay - blast me now.  Just saying what I have seen..

You shouldn't have to worry about being blasted. Personal knowledge discussed in an intelligent manner was very refreshing to me.  Wish more people could state facts and share their opinions in such a positive manner without attacks or being just nasty. Thank you

Hey Carol, how in the health are ya'.  Miss you at the Chili Bowl, wish I was still going.  Heck, even if I was healthy enough your country won't let me or the rest of us Canucks in, arghhhhh.  In closing, your posts are always refreshing, your knowledge second to none, if you were there. you saw it and captured it.   All the very best, you be safe!!

Spot on. Even Ray Charles could see that one.

51 years is a carrer in most sports. They have  Masters golf and Legends bowling and Masters Classic at Knoxville for 50 years+.Problem was guys like Sammy Steve,Danny ,Doug were all still on top of their game.At 60+ Danny Smith,Jac,Kenny Scrader in different type car and Sammy are still racing and still capable and fans still root for or against them but in reality their bodies are not 30 anymore and father time has won the race. Sammy hasnt changed he has never had just one of those racing deals but admire his desire.I still thought I could race at 75 but in reality better to not and help others. We all remember Ali and a few others that didnt go out on top and tarnished some of their greatest accomplishments.

First off I am not a Sammy hater like others, although he is one of the few drivers I prefer not to win but I do respect his accomplishments. With that said, he is not completely innocent and as some have said at times he feels that others should give him the right away. At first I thought he was the car on the outside when he mentioned getting ran over but then he mentioned the tractor tire so I would guess he was actually the inside car. If that is the case, car on the outside does not have a spotter or a mirror and cannot know the exact location of the car on the inside so Sammy has to take some responsibility as well. As someone quoted Karl Kinser, "They have brake pedals too."

The whole kids showing up with money quote from Sammy is getting rather old too. I think he has been using it for about 15yrs now. I remember a race at Charlotte on Speed years ago when Sammy pulled a slider on whoever was driving the Buch 13car (mayber Paul McMahon even at that time) and completely missed timed it. In the interview Sammy said something about the kids need to learn to give room and the other driver needed to brake, and on and on about young drivers. It was funny because the guy driving the 13car was a verteran and had not paid for the ride so that whole line while true in some cases is starting to get tiring coming from him. He can't have it both ways where drivers must brake for him but he doesn't have too for them.

Once again your blindness is only exceeded by your jealousy of a helluva racer.  Sammy is full speed passing the guy avd he comes down into him, ask your guide dog next time you moron.....

that is the way i saw the replay.

The outside car drove right back into the old fart

Hey Nick 14, why post your age next to your name, weird?  Have you seen the replay, your post appears that you have not.  You say you're not a Sammy hater then trash him for the rest of your post, that's when I figured out the 14 connection.....

PS  I stood right next to the racetrack in a corner for over a thousand races and saw dozens and dozens of these, generally when your left front collides with a right rear you done f'd up.....

Even if the dude did come down a little bit there's still nearly a whole lane of track underneath Sammy's car when the two cars get together.   The guy was hardly forcing him under the tractor tire or into the tire.    Looks to me like the guy just started turning a little earlier and Sammy had momentum.   Another camera angle might help too.

Agreed Carol, it was cold.   All the more reason to get the races over at a decent hour.   I wouldn't have left when I did if they were about to run the ASCS feature, but they still had to other features to run in front of it.   I was already turned off by the fact that they were running two B features.

From what I'm hearing Devils Bowl has already been sold and they're just operating it a few more years until George Bush tollway comes through there.   That's strictly a rumor, but that's what I heard.    I'm hoping that Lanny Ross will build another track, maybe 3/8 mile, somewhere else around Dallas.   The heats always suck at Devils Bowl, but that's as much a product of winged racing as it is track size and configuration.   Hopefully if they build another one it'll be better.

They already own RPM Speedway that is not far away it runs on Friday nights.

I think you may need to play a little 5 on 1 their oldtimer to let a little of that pent up frustration out of you. Considering we have had conversations before going to the whole age insult is a little weak even for you. I am not a hater because if I was I would say what all of the haters say which go along the lines of, "that old fart is long past his prime and has been pulling stunts like this for 40+ years and he is always at fault even if he is not, and he gets far too much credit even though he has not accomplished anything, yada yada yada blah blah blah." I said he was not completely innocent. Not fully to blame, but completely innocent. Sorry if that ruined your day but on the otherhand not really because I somewhat enjoy ruining the day for some. Good for your on standing to the corner all those times, I'll send some cookies and a medal to your address.

So, I am not a Sammy fan, and have come on this board numerous time to state my opinion.   I don't want to talk about the wreck itself because pretty much everyone's mind is already made up depending on thier thoughts to Sammy.   What I do want to talk about is his interview.   I realize that he took a heck of a ride and was probably still feeling the aftermath of it, but this was the first interview that I actually thought Sammy was not his normal whinny pissy self.   It was more a combination of being scared and being a grumpy old man.   The extended cut on Facebook where he went back down to the announcer to complain about the other pit crew waiting on him was telling.   The Sammy I hated would have gone up the hill to take them all on.   The Sammy on Saturday was afraid of the other pit crew.  It seemed to be such a big deviation from his normal interviews.   Like I said, it seemed that Sammy was a scared old man.

Now little Nicky, even an idiot could tell there is no frustration at all in my post.  You got the wrong angle Again, but you continue to show your anti-Sammy deal with the rest of the post.  I do appreciate your quote of 'completely innocent', for a second there you made sense.  You're playing my game now and you know how I enjoy that, quit while you can, lol....

A man who has raced a Sprint Car for over 50 years is scared when on any one of those race nights it could have been all over?  Aren't you the tough guy, lol, acting all big and tough on a keyboard.  You have put yourself in the same group of morons/pit crew who want to get it on with a small in statue Senior Citizen, soooooo tough, you're a friggin' joke!

If you weren't frustrated or triggered at all then why did you feel the need to even reply or call out anyone's name? Usually if I am not frustrated or triggered I go on about my day but you have felt the need twice now to try to call me out which I don't mind at all. Whatever game you enjoy playing go right on ahead since I have no feelings I really don't care. I couldn't careless if you think I am anti-Sammy or pro-Sammy but for the record I am a don't care about him at all. While I may not want him to win, it does not ruin my night if he does like some of the dopes on here and unlike them I do not go out of my way to cheer if he wrecks himself, gets wrecked, finishes last, or waste the energy hoping he drops to the back. But he is not necessarily an Alter Boy so his opinion on who wrecks who does have little merit for me, but that is just me. If my little opinion which should mean nothing to you ruins your day sorry but not sorry, it should not. You can just go on about your day or keep up with the entertainment.

correct me if wrong, the other driver is the 2020 ascs elite non wing series champion? after watching the tirade, I thought he was referring to some teenager who was racing his first ever race.
