First off, this is a loss for racing and especially local racing in South Dakota in the event a buyer cannot be found.

I feel bad for the local racers in the stock car classes the most.  It's not like they have another track to go to unless Hartford opens back up for 2017.

My hope is that a buyer can be found but I doubt it will be at the price Chuck is asking.  Depends on how long he is willing to hold onto it is my guess.

Glad the teams are being paid their point funds.

The Press Release reads like a 10 year old that is mad he didn't get picked first when playing a backyard game of baseball so he's gonna go home and pout.

Hope something happens for the racers in 2017.

I would hope that he eventually sells for cheaper or at least give someone a better deal that has a real interest to take it over and make something of it again rather than holding out and keeping the doors shut out of pure greed like he's done with most things. I'm sure there is more that went into the decision but appears that "Husets" would be a minor investment compared to the amount of money and investments he already has so I would think if he truly cared about the sport it wouldnt be an issue to put priority into keeping it going rather than back out since youre now limited to the amount of money you can make. Either way, he mentioned that he'd puke if he heard the name Knoxville again, hope it goes down smoother a second time.

You know you're kind of a douche bag. It looks like  you were right, but calling people "Chuck suckers" never helped advance the conversation. What did  you want people that "blindly supported" Chuck to do? Like it or not he bought the track and put a bunch of money into it. At least I went to 3 or 4 races and gave him a shot. It didn't work out but at least I didn't piss and moan about it like your sorry ass.

I'd put him "being right" in the same category as a broken clock being right twice a day.

You got what you wanted - congratulations.

Looking forward to seeing you purchase it, promote it, run it! What are you waiting for? Put your money where your mouth is.

Well that's a wild turn of events...

I think the new state law is that you can not charge over 36% interest.  Chuck felt he just can not make it with 36% interest.  I would sure like to loan out money with that interest, but I would never pay that much.  Many of us last year said you can not throw money at the drivers very long and make it work.  I am sure he lost money on every race.   He was going to make millions on his concerts, I guess that did not work out either.  I feel soryy for drivers that put faith in him.  If it talks like a big bag of wind, walks like a big bag of wind, and smells like a big bag of wind, it is probably a big bag of wind.    If they had raced again in 2017 all the money he paid out last year would have never happened this coming year.  No one will offer 9 million for track.  There is no way in racing to make that money back.

Buddy and me here at work asked that question this morning. It seems it was in the 4-5 million range and that was for one of if not the premier dirt track in the country.

I want to know what he was thinking, he put a ton of money into the track. New lights, scoreboards, stands, buildings, etc. He was never going to make it back but what was the point of doing all of that? Must be a tax write off.

I've heard under $2 mil is what Tony paid for Eldora but has put $5 mil into it since then.

That could well be....seems I remember it being asked when it happened and someone checked the darke county tax records and came up with the 4 mill

A friend of mine brought something else to light for me. This clash of the titans may end up having a huge impact not only 410 racing, but on 360 racing in the area. As it stands right now, no NSL 360, and because of that no Saturday 360's at Jackson, no 360's at Rock Rapids, no 360's at Hartford, and none at Huset's.

Oh and for the sake of humanity, when somebody finally does buy the place for 5-6 million (my prediction), just go back to racing on Sunday so that everyone's world can start spinning again.

I predict Tod Quiring will put something together to bring 360's back to Jackson Motorplex. I also think there will be bright days ahead for the Badlands/Husets facility, the fans, drivers and race teams. I would bet that Sioux Falls will not be without sprint car racing for any extended period of time. Not beyond 2017 anyway, if that long.

360 teams got screwed the most. NSL thought it was going to reinvent the wheel,  which cost teams money, then the NSL disbanded, costing teams more money to switch back to ACSC rules, Now the only place weekly they can race at the moment is Knoxville, which takes a boat load of motor money. ASCS region is in the works but they havent announced anything yet, which makes it tough for a 360 team in the area to finds sponsors when they have no idea where and how often they are going to race. Its really a huge slap in the face to those teams when they have been the foundation in the area for so long. I honestly feel like if TQ does bring back the 360's it will be a shell of what it was the last two years, no one wants to feel like they are good enough, and i know for a fact that some feel that way when Jacksons schedule came out earlier this fall. You arent going to get very many Minnesota teams to travel to Nebraska and vice versa so im not sure how this new region is going to be run. Its really a sad time when things looked to be getting bigger and better.

There were more than a few people who did not know what CB was all about and hoped for the best, NOTHING wrong with that.

Than there were those people who were in the know and still HOPED for the best.

Than there were those who gobbled up everything he was selling, ie as you call them "Chucksuckers".

Some great improvements were made at Husets, changing the nights they raced on was NOT one of them. Doing it HIS way instead of working with surrounding tracks was NOT one of them.

There are only so many racers and so many fans in this area and more than a few tracks, the best decision is to work with everyone you can, fans, racers, promotors, etc.

You can make all the improvements to a dirt track you want to, but at the end of the day, no fan is going to plop down an extra 10 bucks a ticket for essentially the same show he saw the year or so before, just because a track owner made the pisser nicer or gave him a more comfortable seat. Uber Joe Wealthy might, but not Average Joe Racefan.

It's no different at the Pawn Shop where one could attend a Hairball show a few years ago for 10 to 12 bucks here or there and now to see them under the CB Banner, they suddently cost 40 plus.

Some of the same bands that have played at the pawn over the last year, one can see for half to 3/4 less in Sioux City at the Hardrock, or In the TC's or Omaha. One hears about all these "sold-out" shows out there, yet all these people end up getting FREE tickets.

In my opinion something's wrong with the business model. Fans of music, racing, etc are only willing to pay so much, and fans aren't stupid, they know what the average cost is for the entertainment being advertised and just because it's in their backyard doesn't mean they are willing to pay 2 to 3 times more for the same.

None of the above opinions really matter though, IM21 passed by the SD Voters pissed off CB and he's putting the kibosh on things he can in his home state.

In the end, this is saddening, but if he's gonna blame IM21, than in reality he's telling a majority of South Dakotan's that they're stupid, because the State Of SD voted in IM21.

Badlands Motor Speedway will immediately begin the process of searching for new owners and operators.

This one of a kind, turnkey racing and entertainment facility has been quoted as being one of the nicest, most modern and high tech dirt track in the United States with a 60+ year racing history. With a capacity of over 9,000 in the grandstands and 20,000 for concerts or festivals, BMS is much more than just a race track, it is a legendary gathering point.

Badlands Motor Speedway, formerly Huset’s Speedway, has just undergone an unprecedented Ten Million Dollar makeover and is completely new and renovated from the ground up.

Sitting on over 80 acres, the capacity for events of all kinds, in addition to the best racing in America, is simply staggering and the opportunity for the new owners group is limitless.

The reason for this dramatic move has nothing to do with Chuck Brennan's love for this facility, racing, drivers and fans.

On November 8th, 2016, the voters in South Dakota overwhelmingly passed a ballot initiative to eliminate licensed short term lending from the state. Well, that is what we do and our flagship business in South Dakota, Dollar Loan Center, was given only 5 days as a result of the ballot initiative by the State of South Dakota to comply with this change of law. This move by the voters has left hundreds without jobs and tens of thousands without a safe and alternative financial option.

Mr. Brennan has invested and donated well over $100,000,000 in his home state of South Dakota and most of that investment within a mile of where he grew up at 8th Street and Covell Avenue in Sioux Falls.

Because of these recent events, Mr. Brennan is reevaluating his economic presence in South Dakota and will be selling several of his many properties and businesses in the State and diverting that business to the other markets that he currently operates in.

BMS not only comes with a turnkey facility that is completely race ready, but with a passionate staff that is the best in the business and able to hit the ground running this race season and continue on with all of the ground work that has been laid for the upcoming 2017 race season.

The facilities management and General Manager Tom Savage will remain in place and keep moving toward being 100% ready to go as planned for the season upon identifying new owners for the track.

The firm asking price for the Business, land, facility, vehicles, furnishings and everything you need to be race ready is $9,750,000 as one lump sum payment or an option of putting a $6,000,000 down payment and BMS financing a remaining $6,000,000 to be paid over a 6 year period at $1M per year for a grand total of $12,000,000 by going that route. As long as the payments are on time, that 6 year period would be interest free.

In Addition:

We will not be having our race banquet this year as planned for January 14. Anyone who purchased tickets for this event will be fully refunded. Rather than having the drivers and race teams wait until then as in the past, we will be paying out all of the prize money for last season immediately. Race teams will be contacted by our staff to arrange getting them their funds, trophies and prizes.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to sell the track before race season, Badlands Motor Speedway is NOT planning to race in 2017. We will have the entire facility maintained and ready to go for a smooth transition when it happens.

For info regarding purchasing the track and the facility, please contact Dave Galyen at 702-493-0978.

My question is this, did Chuck buy additional land around the track? The Minnehaha County Records on the sale of Husets show 47.24 acres while above it is advertised as being on over 80 acres??

the loan cap is just his excuse. pawn shop has been a flop from the beginning, enduro cross was a flop, poor tickets sales for tractor pull, luckly had enough rain to cancel, house band can't seem to find any shows, probably over priced, poor crowds on a lot of Saturday and sunday night races. probably lost his ass on the concert that rained out. big problem now is he put so much money in the track it is not affordable for anybody to purchase.

That is correct I believe he bought some land to the south of the track for overflow parking.

I agree. No  matter how much interest you charge- how many loans/years equal breaking even at 9 million? And after that its pure profit- sorta.
