Everything was a 'go', until the Speedway was shut down. Had the money for the motels (display cars inside of the show area), had the best location, had a liability contract waiting to be signed, had an announcement in Streetscene magazine, had cars waiting to be in there.............
Unfortunately, since I have joined the fight to save the speedway, the political nature of the situation could be harmful to the NSRA, not us, but the NSRA. The NSRA has been understanding, but it does not want to get involved in the politics. No one can blame them. I have been very vocal in the fight to save a track that has been there for over 55 years. It matters to Oklahoma, and I will not apologize for that.
They(NSRA) have put us on the 'Tentative list', but in the interest of not harming their standing, it is most likely best to back off from anything that has to do with the fairgrounds.
I still have to notify the NSRA, it's been hard to. But I'm going to have to do it. I was hoping a larger group would come in and 'take it away from me', and save this deal. But it doesn't look like that is going to happen.
It has been embarrassing from day one, never seemed to die, but embarrassing none the least.
