A lot of cars are fast on the bottom at Eldora again.

Now THATS a proper Kings Royal victory lane. Look at the real non vinyl flowing tapestry, a fully appointed court of Earls & High Priest. Tastfully dressed queens, red carpet extending down the inside pit wall. A crown that is proportional and not cartoon sized.

It could be great like this again, it could be. Let's make that happen in 2023.

It's hard to think about what they were going through at that moment behind the scenes with Davey Jr & his family back home. What a tough race team all around.

Hats off to Tony Stewart. $2,000,000 total purse over 4 days would pique anyone's interest and the 69k can actually win. Seems like they aren't f'ing around either, running May WoO and June All Star Eldora Shows. Cue the Rocky music. Posse can win between Marks (Won both), Dewease, Macri (+14 hard charger to 8th last year's Kings Royal), etc.

ELDORA MILLION PRELIMS: WED JULY 12 – $115,700 (minimum) 2 PRELIMINARY QUALIFYING FEATURES: EACH $12,000-to-win/$1,000-to-start

THE ELDORA MILLION: THU, JULY 13 – $1,400,000 (minimum) 1st) $1,002,023…plus commemorative trophy for driver and owner; 2nd) $100,000; 3rd) $50,000; 4th) $25,000; 5th) $15,000; 6th) $12,500; 7th) $10,000; 8th) $9,000; 9th) $8,500; 10th) $8,000; 11th) $7,500; 12th) $7,000; 13th) $6,900; 14th) $6,800; 15th) $6,700; 16th) $6,600; 17th) $6,500; 18th) $6,400; 19th) $6,300; 20th) $6,200; 21st) $6,150; 22nd) $6,100; 23rd) $6,050; and 24th) $6,000.

I never thought about team tragedy when looking at that photo, it was a sad time indeed. Was that the same year Doug won with a broken shoulder?

Probably taking month off to freshen motors and regroup before big money PA shows.

Dewease running thru Waynesboro getting ready for Eldora

Marks had to run wall at end both races last year, for $1M last couple laps will be complete Kamikaze. Why there will be sell out crowds and streaming.

Yes. I believe he broke it either during or just prior to Ohio Speedweek. I stumbled on a photo of the car at the 85'  Kings Royal taken in the pits and you could see extra foam padding duct taped to the seat.

He broke his shoulder at Eldora during Speedweek when the rear axel broke sending him into the wall. I think that was on Wednesday as Earl picked up a show during the week that another track wasn't able to have. I believe he took one night off and Friday night he showed up at Fremont (which was generally pretty rough back then...not the glassy black slick of recent times) and won bouncing through the ruts. I remember thinking what a tough SOB.

Good stuff, I think that Fremont race is or was on Youtube, with a very young Brian Liskai on the mic. Smile

I remember many years ago, had to be early 90's, D.Kreitz was at the Knoxville Nationals and either a muffler came off of a car and hit his arm or the torque tube came off but he got a pretty serious injury from it!

I think you're thinking of Billy Pauch... Zemco car in turn 4 during hotlaps.  That sucked.

Yep I think that was 1995, I was sitting right where he came to a stop. His week was over before it began.
