Do WoO trams have a choice for what hardness they use on the right rear? Let’s say a team puts on certain right rear tire for a feature race. And let’s say the track is a random, fast, dusty, sandpaper, tire-eating track, and that the team falls out of the lead two nights in a row with a blown right rear. The drivers that finished 1st, 2nd, & 3rd on the same track, were they using the same tire compound?

I was wonder the same thing just the other day!!  Remember years ago at Knoxville, After someone would set Quick Time or Win a Heat a bunch of drivers would scurry over to the fastest car and check out the tire that he was using.  I don't really notice that anymore. They would always jack them up and measure the tire immediately afterwards also... I believe they still do this>?

It's all laid out very nicely here: https://dirtcar.com/rules/sprint-car-series/sprint-technical-rules/sprint-tires/

Yes, but the "soft compound" is so hard that guys still run that tire 99% of the time. On top of that the outlaws will shorten the race or add a pit stop instead of making the teams make a "decision" on tire compound. See Husets 50 for example.

Thanks.

From the website:

"Right rear:
105/16.0-15 H15,W18, H20, medium"

Am I reading that correctly, that there would be three (four?) compounds to choose from?

I am to lazy to look it up, but I thought they had to use same tire they time trialed on all night but B main .  I think WOO can make an exception if track is eating up tires in heats or for special races.  I could be wrong.

Hoosier says no less than 6 lbs air in left rear and 8 lbs in rt rear.  Are some teams using less air to try to get traction?

Some may be, but the H tires have a stiff sidewall. If you dont run enough air in them you wont fully grip the track

Logan and Team are probably scratching their heads regarding tires.  They gave up a ton of $ last weekend.

Rule Book

Section 10. Tires

D. Prior to any Main Event the right rear tire may only be changed to replace a punctured,
damaged, sliced and/or out-of-round tire.
E. A World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Official must be present when a marked and damaged right
rear tire is replaced and/or a new right rear tire is fitted at any time other than before any Main
Event.
F. During single-day events and qualifying nights of multi-day events the same marked right rear
tire used in qualifying must be used throughout the Heat and the Dash races.

G. Any damaged right rear wheel may be replaced without penalty but must utilize the same
marked right rear tire. If the tire is flat and/or damaged, then the rules governing the changing
of the right rear tire must be adhered to.
H. The front and left rear tires and/or wheels may be changed at any time between races.

In a nutshell, the same RR must be used to qualify, run the heat race and dash if racer advances.

RR can't be changed in feature unless stated failures in section D.
