IMHO, the time the races get over is much more important than what time they start (compared to advertised start time). I think that 10 pm is what every track should strive for with the exception of special events. It lets mommy and daddy get the future race fans home and in bed at a decent hour and still allows for post race socializing that can be just as an important part of the fan experience as the on track action.

Obviously 10 pm isn't always possible but it should be a goal and if the final checkered drops consistantly after 10:30 then changes need to be made.

Very important to end at or before 10PM.

I agree that the time the races end is much more important. This is especially true for fans that have to drive a ways to reach the track. If races are ending late into the night, then after visiting the pits, driving 45 min to an hour home can affect how many people will be coming out to the tracks on a regular basis.

It is very, very, important to start on time and keep the show rolling. People pay to see cars on the track, not hear the announcer trying to fill/kill time before cars finally get on the track. We do a good job in Knoxville letting the drivers know they are supposed be in the pushoff area when the white flag waves or it's tough bounce. When the Outlaws are here, they need to be aware of this too. The best of all is at the Boone Super Nationals in September, they are really on the ball.

I'm a single guy so I care less about the ending time than families or those that travel farther, but that is exactly what is happening Sprint93, I stay home or find another racetrack to go to. I would rather spend my time in the pits after the races BS'ing, in the tavern drinking or at home relaxing, Sitting through a 90 minute race program that has been strung out to 4 hours is not entertaining, even for this hard core fan.

I had the best experience last season, when I brought my 4 year old brother to his first sprint car race. He absolutely loved it, however when the racing didn't get over till after 10:30, he was not even able to stay awake during the A-feature. After going to the pits then driving home, it was well after 11 by the time he was in his own bed. This was just to late for him. The ending times need to be a little earlier so we can continue to get the little ones hooked on racing.

2 1/2 hrs each way for me so it's nice when they end early but I don't give it to much thought when they run late! The older I get the harder it seems to stay awake on the ride home. Hwy 92 changes into a 4-6 lane at 1:30 in the morning just past Washington now days :-0....I'm just glad I got to go to the races at the best place to watch races for the most part though.

If I could take 1 thing from the evening to save time it would be all the frisbee throwing and b'sing between heats & features. I would think the 360's would be set to go for the C or B main by the end of 410 heats but I'm just a bleacher bum so I'm just talking out my bum.

great attitude sprint93, I think a lot of promoters share your feelings, that is why there will be fewer promoters in the future. Been saying this for a few years now, racing better figure out how to be more efficient or the fan base will continue to suffer. Getting home at two or three in the morning stopped being fun a long time ago. I enjoy my time at the track, but I go to be entertained, not aggravated, I get plenty of that away from the track.
