As a fan would you be more likely to support a business that...
A. Sponsors a car.
or
B. Sponsors an event(s)
I understand this is very general but I am interested in the feedback from folks who buy the tickets

This is just my opinion, but as long as their supporting the sport in one way or another I'm a happy fan!

Actually, that is a good question especially from a potential sponsor. I would think it depends on what kind of business you own and what kind of racing format you are considering sponsoring. If it's say, Linda's Clip and Curl Beauty Salon, I would get as much track time at a local track by sponsoring a car AND sponsoring a race.You are in front of your target market and a good track promoter has your name on the track's website, schedules, etc. which is really exposure for the whole year. Plus, most tracks will allow you to set up a booth to hand out even more information or promotional items the night of your sponsorship race. This type of advertising is especially true if are in Little Town, Ohio. Your advertising dollar won't get you much business from women in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
On the other hand, if you are a large chain or business, like say Big Game or Great Clips and race all over the country, I think I would have my name plastered all over a car (like they do). People will recognize your business and effort you put into supporting racing everywhere you race. The concept would be like a business buying a revolving package of roadsigns that switch locations over a wide area. People will tell the business how many times they see that business' signs all over the place.
This is only my opinion but there is one reason I get my hair cut at Great Clips. They put a heck of a lot of advertising dollars into the sport of racing!

That's a tough one, lots of factors and depends on what YOU want to get out of your sponsorship.
Do you want to drive business to your door? Sponsoring a night at the races might be best.
Do you want to be associated with a winner? Sponsoring a big team that wins multiple races might be best.
Do you want to help a racer out and no care if they're a winner? Sponsoring a small team with no sponsors might be best (they'll give your logo a bigger space on the car).
Personally, if I had $5000 to spend on sponsorship and I wanted to be on a car, I think I'd get more people to my business if I sponsored someone like a Robert Bell (who everyone in the stands roots for because he's the underdog) who will put my name all over his car in big huge lettering as opposed to giving that same $5000 to a bigger team that where my logo will just get "lost in the shuffle" of the other 50 names on the car and my business may not get mentioned at all.

I have thought about this before as well. If youre talking WoO i dont think you can really go wrong with sponsoring a car if its a nationwide business. For example Brian Brown usually only runs events where Casey's General Stores are near by from what I've been told. If you are somewhat of a regional business looking to get into racing sponsoring an event is a better idea i feel,unless you can put your name on the top drivers. IMO sponsoring a 15th place driver just to have your name out there doesnt do anything for your business.

As a fan I try to support BOTH, sponsors of cars and sponsors of events. Both are needed for the health & future of the sport. I am thankfull of all sponsors who put money into sprint car racing.
But if I had to choose one or the other I would probably support the car sponsors first.

I think a big thing is to be sure and tell a manager or supervisor that you shop there or are doing business with them because of their support of dirt track racing.... I always tell a manager, if they check me out, that I go out of way, to go to a Casey's General Store because of their support of dirt track racing!
Just my two cents....
