is it possible that Leppo has a better performance record with more wins in less outings as a part time fill in driver than Stauffer has had without Hodnet?
Brian drove the 12 to one victory at the Grove...has the 12 been back in VL there since? Oh the good ole days...
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Hodnett seems to do quite well with or without Lee. Lee isn't God and quite frankly, his track record without Greg behind the wheel hasn't been great. Tim Shaffer drove this car for most of the season with Lee turning the wrenches, back in '98 or '99, and won exactly 0 races.
|
It was in 1998. I remember Hodnett started driving the #12 about the time of the Nationals and won numerous big races in PA in the month of September (both Tuscarora 50 nights), Selinsgrove's National Open, etc. plus I think he won the Sharon Nationals Labor Day weekend in Ohio. A great team was born in late 1998. As I very well know, Tim Shaffer can win races so I don't know why he didn't win in the Apple #12 - must have been chemistry? Maybe he will be better this coming weekend?
As for Leppo, he was a true talent and a very good racer. Saw him win at the Grove a few times including a couple of big races. If the right opportunity came at the right time, he would have done very well no doubt.

I don't know what you where watching, But I saw him spin out, collect another car!! Than he drove into the pits and parked the thing!!!
I said it before and am saying it again, field filler!! The races he won he alsway started in the top three!!! When he won three races a year, he sand baged the handicapping system in Central pa to start up front and win!! When he started mid pack in the A bacauce he was high point man, he never finished in the top 10!!
|
Says it all. Thank you!

CJB knew how to set the car up and so did the Zemco team. This car hasnt been on the track idk how long. Notebook is outdated.
Shaffer has ran all year and knows how he wants the car set up. I would look for good results this weekend if the equipment is up to standards.
|
Are you kidding me? I will take the car that was just freshly built by lee Stauffer over the other cars that were out there anyday! Shaffer will be fine in the car this weekend. Great driver with a great wrench in great equipment....Csracing72 has no idea apparently
do it in the dirt

Didn't Chad Layton win a feature at the Grove during his time driving the 12?

Tim was fast in the Apple 12 but not fast enough to beat Dewease, Rahmer and Todd Shaffer who were the big 3 in PA at the time. Those 3 also had a a lot more experience at the central PA tracks. Greg is just an incredible driver(espescially on 1/2 miles) that makes any mechanic look good, given time.

I don't know about that. If it was built by Stauffer, it might be very fast, very slow and something is likely to break. Like I said, the vast majority of his success came with Hodnett. Tim Shaffer is a very good driver but he doesn't have a good track record at the Grove.

Wow, what a tough freakin' crowd!
Brian Leppo - "Field filler" - are you serious?
Sometimes the "combination" works (Zemco night one) and most of the time it doesn't (Apple night one) - and Brian Leppo is the latest "victim" of this phenomena .
Greg Hodnett - As stated in another thread: a no muss, no fuss, PROFESSIONAL race car driver - who subsequently flies under the "mainstream" radar and likely knows more than most, and certainly knows more than he gets credit for - and he likely prefers it that way.
It's tough to win no matter where you start. Maybe a little easier if you start first but it's still tough.
Have a nice day!

YES
Brian Leppo is a FIELD FILLER!!
Ever car he has driving in the last 6 times he was on the track he did well the first night when they had a great starting spot!! As time went on, the more races he was in the car, the finishes got worse!! Do your research!! This is FACT!!!
The finishes in the races he has run are all on the internet!!!

I think you need to do some research on grammar and education, and get some lessons on both. Are you even a regular track visitor in central Pennsylvania, hambone?

Yea, sometimes I have fat fingers, still dosn't change the facts! Yes, I live in Central PA always have, always will. I can say I take in 60 to 70 races a year both in Central Pa and other areas in our country!
Don't pass judgement till you know the facts!

....and people like you are an embarrassment as a PA race fan and part of the reason outside areas look at the place as toothless white trash rednecks. What have you ever driven? What have you ever raced? Where does you expert opinion come from? Ill be at the open this weekend and Id love to hear an expert talk about racing! My name is Derek Latshaw, Id be happy to introduce myself.

Agreed. I would love to hear an expert on central PA racing, someone who really knows every driver, situation, and why some stuff works the way it does. Maybe he and the kid who told me lsat weekend at Lincoln that Tony Stewart is Logan Schucharts dad can get together and give me some more useful information. My name is Brandon Dupert and I sit on the front stretch, row q seats 9-16

Who goes to an Outlaw show just to See Sammy And Steve. Not I so the Outlaws will be fine without them. Just like when any old timer retires the show still goes on. besides these are not the Only two drivers on the outlaw tour.

UHHH they had a vast majority of success with Rahmer also. Way before Hodnett got behind the wheel too.

First off, I don't care whom you two are! Second whom I am really dosn't matter, this post is about Leppo"s driving. That is it! I can see that I have gotten the two of you.
Facts are facts, all the results forom every track in Central Pa are right at your finger tips.
I don't clam to know everything, However I don't sit in the stands and listin to others like yourselfs whom read a sprint car and midget and clam to know something about the sport!! I can tell you this, I have been involved in racing for 30 years, I can/have built Sprint car frames from the ground up, I am a machinist by trade, I can/have machine every part on a sprint car.
I also have 15 years turning wrenches on racecars, 74 wins under my belt as a wrench. None of this matters on this post!! Again this post is about Leppo!!!
Anytime the two of you would like to stop by my shop, I would be more than willing to learn something from the two of you!! Sadly I don't see that happening!!!
