Four Races Remain for the NCRA Sport Mod Division!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – July 30, 2013 - The Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified division is set for their stretch run on the 2013 race season with seven races in the books and only four remaining before it will be known who will become champion during the fifth year for the tour.
Sitting atop the point standings for the first time ever is a new face on the tour as Mark Harrison of Kingfisher, Oklahoma holds the slimmest of leads as we head to the final stretch run. He leads former tour champion Todd Decker of Edmond, Oklahoma by a scant 5 points while Ross McCartney of Lahoma, Oklahoma looks to make a late season charge, sitting just 135 points out of the lead. Rookie contender Kenny Morris and Cleo Adams are tied for the fourth position.
Sixth through tenth in the standings include: Chad McNamara, Travis Johnson, Brandon Smith, J.D. Choate and Bobby McGehee. Drivers who also have made all seven shows include rookie contender Steve Little, Courtney McCartney and Kyle Choate. Thus far 98 different drivers have competed in at least one event on the 2013 race schedule.
Robert Elliott picked up the season opening victory during the two-day, inaugural “Sport Mod Spring Scramble” at 81 Speedway in Park City and followed that up at the tours next appearance at the track during the Memorial Day weekend. Also claiming victories are Decker (Elk City), Smith (Route 66 Motor Speedway/81 Speedway) and the latest feature winner Cleo Adams who won the prestigious Hutchinson Grand Nationals in Hutchinson, Kansas.
