Here's something just to consider.  When buying tires for the Nationals, most of the time a team (or Robert) would actually need 2 different size left rears to accomodate for changing stagger as the night goes on.  In this case I would think he would/could use a 92 and a 94 left rear.  Im not trying to see how much we can spend here in any way, but was just thinking 1 RR and 2 LR's may be a better deal for him than all 4 corners of the racecar.  I think the hoseheads family can get it done but it may be a stretch.  Just my .02 on it.  Anyone else thinking the same thing?

Why not let him determine what tires he needs (stagger wise)?

This is honestly what my plan has been. Get a right rear first, then the 2 left rears, and then another right rear if we have enough money.

I dont think anyone uses a 92 left rear at Knoxville. 94 if its tacky 96 when it slicks off?? but just because they say 94 or 96 doesnt mean they roll out to that measurment.

This is awesome news! I will find you Saturday Tanner. I can do with one less t shirt/ tenderloin/ beer, to help someone out.

I'm curious how much is racing fuel per gallon?

Methanol at Knoxville is usually the cheapest you will find anywhere. Pretty sure it's $3.50 a gallon.

Can a driver, team member chime in and estimate gas usage for a night during the nationals?

for hot laps, qualifying, heat race and one feature plan on about 30 gallons at Knoxville...give or take 5 gallons.

I'm reading this thread today and very happy to see you doing this for Robert.  I don't know the man personally; my only time racing around him was at the Shuman Classic held at Lakeside several years ago (non-wing event).  I was helping a friend that night and after Robert's heat race I was walking back to the trailer.  Robert came in to his pit, stopped and I could hear him yelling from the cockpit.  At first I didn't know if he was hurt, on fire, or what the hell he was yelling for!  I approached his car only to figure out he was hootin and hollerin with pure joy and excitement.  He'd finished last or next to last, don't recall, but he was happier than anyone I've ever seen after a heat race.  And even more interesting, I noticed he was there by himself.  Later that night I helped push him out of his stall and I saw others helping him load the car.

This man deserves the boost, for no other reason than to show him that we race fans appreciate him doing what he loves to do, no matter if he's a front runner or not!  Count me in, I'll donate via your paypal account.

I was in the pits at Osky last year and he had taken the wing off and was racing with the USAC boys.  I have talked to him a few times and that night he was one of the last to leave and I stuck up a conversation with him and he was just thrilled to be running, had some problems but was just having a ball.  If you get a chance, just stop by his pit and chat a while with him.  He is one of the most personable drivers you will meet and is always eager to talk racing and will tell you exactly what is going on with the car, the track, his plans.  I even had a Robert Bell t-shirt a few years ago.  He might not even have any more but it wouldn't hurt to ask and would gain him a few new members in the Robert Bell fan club!!

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

That's why, out of all drivers, we chose to do this for him. He's just as much as race fan as he is a driver, and I mean that in the very best way possible. He loves what he does and we don't want him to stop!

If everyone who viewed this would give $1 he'd be set, problem is most people don't think their $1 will make a difference. So everyone knows it will, you will always have the guys like Shawn Peterson, IBRacin', and Tri Star Engines and Transmissions donate a larger amount and it is greatly appreciated but as a guy who has done quite a bit of fundraising my motto has always been "little money makes big money". I don't know Robert but bought a shirt from him last year and became a fan, super nice guy doing what many of us only dream of. I'll find you when I get to town for the Nationals and do my part.

Get a picture or two and post them so we can all enjoy the moment because it is going to be a great one.

Here is a video of Robert taken a couple of years ago by my buddy Mike Kraft.  Classic Robert Bell!

But this year our dollars are going to make a difference for Robert and all of us that donate. We can and will make  memories that will last a lifetime. Just a darn cool idea.
