First thanks to Mr. Gunner at Grandstand Video for posting. What is everyone's thoughts on the move? Should be an interesting discussion.

Looks like Mike went to slide the lapped car and then in the process decided to go for Neitzel too about half way through. I'd say it was an incredibly bad decision, BUT unintentional.
Overall verdict: Bad Slidejob

looks to me like when the 80 car slid the lapped car he ended up with too much momentum and another lapped car blocking him in front and he had to try to make it past the other lapped car. he got boxed in with too much momentum and tried to beat the 2 car past the lapped car but just didn't make it.
the guy in the 80 had no where to go after he slid the first lapped car. he was going to run into the other lapped car for sure, so he just tried to do the only thing he could, which was try to get around the other lapped car, and hope it worked out. he couldn't slow down so he had to just get back on the gas and try to make it through the hole between the lapped car on the inside and the 2 car on the outside. he did the right thing because he saved himself, but unfortunately he took out the 2 car. i think the guy in the 80 thought he could slide the first lapped car and come out with enough room to slide up in front of the 2 car, but misjudged how fast he was catching the other lapped car.
just a bad racing scenario.
to indy and beyond!!

Imagine that. Kertcher driving way over his talent level again. Guy wrecks more people with bonehead moves than anyone I can ever remember. Glad to see IRA finally parked him.
Those defending the move or thinking it's anything other than wreckless driving must not know Mike Kertcher's reputation for taking other people out.

Just a stupid move. Why try and slide a guy when you can see 2 more cars in front of you that you can not possibly get by? Must have thought he could slide the first one then split the other 2. Just dumb. Looks like a guy who has a car that can turn 12 second laps but a brain that can only turn 13 second laps!

he was already plenty past the 10v and out of the gas to make the corner. then just as its time to turn to catch the bottom. he very deliberatelly stabbed the throttle. mikes been racing long enough, and been in these exact situations enough'. that he new he'd make contact unless neitzel had enough time to move out of the way. do I think mike wanted Scotty's car to be junk? no. he just didn't care either way.
his actions were very much intentional
racing is way too strict with their fighting rules. a punch in the mouth will do wonders and nobody there stuff tore up

also one last thing. mike never pulled that crap on me. very seldom has he ever passed me, but when he has it was clean. I think he knew better simply because he knew i'd even the score or hit him in the teeth. i've been penalized and fined for fighting and I don't care. i'm proud of it even.
well...... we had words very early in his career when he was pissin off dean(car owner) and kim. wasn't even about a racing incident. he was talking smack about me so I confronted him. did the same with scotty once too actually.
anyway respect was built. rite now he's not racing with any.

well said jk. your experience shows.
im really surprised at the people defending him. the" scenario" wasn't bad until mike stabbed the throttle once he was clear of matt/10v. I mean you can see the car nose down and then pick up. he coulda caught the bottom and maybe passed him clean right there or even the "next" corner.
. not every pass has to be a slider.

No patience. What a dick. It doesn't even count as an attempted slide job when you hit both wheels square on the other guys'.

That was a mistake on his part no doubt. How come these guys don't wait and settle it in the pits the way it used to be done?

That's Mikes patented move the "SLIDE SLAM". He's really gotten good at it. He sends the leader flipping and the 80k takes the lead with no or minimal damage. Classy move. Nothing will change until he is responsible financially for his own car which will never happen. Its silver spoon racer syndrome. Kudos to the IRA for finally doing something. Capt Jim do yourself a favor and give him the boot and give BK a call!
