I also want to add; 1. the ability to text an approximate seat number & description, & specific complaint about someone @ the track is a great & cheap first step. 2. knoxville needs to have plain-clothes security (maybe one person per grandstand?) working the stands to corroborate messages received. otherwise you're gonna have kinser fans texting about people in sammy shirts (I'm kind of kidding) 3. they need a 'goon' squad to escort people out & keep the peace. people that are trained & experienced in security, not just some pumped up jock looking for a fun way to get paid to beat people up. peaceful conflict resolution is of the utmost importance at these family oriented events! Toby, email me, I'll totally work plain-clothes for you next year & every year after that! let's talk compensation!

Hopefully next year something can be done about this woman sitting next to me who kept peppering me with questions for four nights and had no clue about racing. Then she keeps getting up to use the bathroom and her phone. Oh wait that was my girlfriend. Never mind
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Maybe the staff serving the alcohol should pay attention to who has consumed too much. It is actually their responsibility not to serve someone who is drunk, i realize this is their biggest money making weekend but i am a bartender and if i over serve someone at the bar we can be fined and loose our liqour license. To me it seems the track just wants their beer $ because they know they wont get in trouble. Ive been attending the nationals since'95 and enjoy my share of beverages but this was the worst i can remember with sloppy drunks. Seen 2 different individuals puke under the grandstands on backstretch, one just wiped his mouth and jumped into the beer line to get 2 more.

But what everybody is overlooking is the fact that they may have 1 or 2 people who have had little if any to drink buy the alcohol and then how is the individual who is selling the alcohol to know that it is going to the belligerent drunks.

Lousy amateur drunks give the rest of us professional drunks a bad name. These punks need to learn to hold their liquor and watch their mouths around women and children. My main question is this: where in the hell were the real men at who should have stood up to these jackwads and pummeled the shit out of them? Seriously we you shouldn't need "cops or goon squads from the track staff" just good old ass whipping from ordinary folks who know when to stand up for some people in need. Plain clothes security sucks we certainly don't need that kind of fun police. They'll just run out the peaceful pot smokers and miss the vomiting drunks anyways.

Cheers!

Hey I never mentioned narcing on the pot heads! Leave them be. Just a system in place to get morons off the premises. Leaving the situation up to 'vigilante justice' is great in theory but isn't going to work in this day & age of litigation. The last thing the Marion County Board wants is people beating the shit out of each other in the stands.

I know what ya mean but it seems the threat of a mob ass whipping might have mellowed these assholes out at least. Pisses me off that the family had to go through this crap and it ruined what should be a great time.

Cheers!

I agree, had I been there I definitely would have tried to remedy the situation. Without me ending up in jail in Iowa! I don't even like the jails here in Wisconsin!

Kudos to Dryslick Willie, Henry Chinaski and larryitis for going along with my solution to the issue at least this one time, sure would have been nice to have the four of us sitting right behind these morons. A mini version of the 'let's roll' could have come to fruition, ahh the good ol' days with the blades on, nice memories....

It is a-holes like this that causes my wife to refuse to come to races. As a result, it is highly unlikely that my kids will be joining me anytime soon.

This all sounds pretty bad but hard for me to relate to since for most of my years in the sport I was in the pits. The only drunk I ever ran into in the pits was Nelligan.......:-). God help me now....

Nothing is going to change until someone sues Marion County and the fairboard for being injured by lack of enforcement.

Frankly, Knoxville is so desperate for any kind of business that the town and county won't do anything until they are held financially liable. If some drunk puked on me or my family on Saturday night, I'd have my attorney retained on Monday morning. I hold the fairboard and county cops responsible for the safety of me and the general public when I am on the fairground's domain.

It's pathetic, really. Everybody thinks the people of Knoxville and decent racefans are idiots because behavior like this goes on.

Good people are staying away in droves now. Leaves more room for the drunks and morons, I guess.

I agree. Nothing will be done until someone sues the shorts off of Marion County for negligence. Too bad this kind of public intoxication is allowed. This day and age you never know what kind of disease or sickness may be passed on from someone puking on you. If this happened to me and my family, I'm sure I would be visiting the jailhouse. My attorney would love to get a shot at this liability issue.

After the sheriff left and didn't provide a solution is why I didn't want to take another shot at it, being there with my son was the main reason I didn't want to get hauled out...plus, mabey some people werent aware of the problem and just saw me clobbering them,...or same thing with anyone else that tried to help...just wasn't worth it. A few surrounding people did politely ask these clowns to stop swearing since there were many children in the area,..to which they did stop,...but minutes later, they started right back up. In the video clip, at about 19 seconds...looks like the guy was gonna pop him, but didn't...also around 50 seconds show the 2 guys looking down at the puke covered bleachers and seat cushion.

I really would've thought this thread would of called these drunk bozos out and made them responsible for their actions. We'll see.....

A vigilante thumping by those surrounding the morons would have only gotten assault charges against everyone involved,if you could have gotten that member of the sheriffs teams name or badge number you could have his butt in hot water for walking away from this situation,he should be fired for his "no action" in the matter, the sheriffs dept. spends thousands for radios start using them. Now go to the video of Dusty Zomers wreck and the sheriffs out there directing traffic, the track personnel could handle that get his butt in the stands protecting the paying customers from the also paying drunk customers.7000 empty seats on Saturday morning could be more next year if something isn't done about this and there are one heck of a lot of means for the Knoxville management to let the customers know they have a handle on this situation and have established a code of conduct for those that can't discipline themselves, these 40 year old, 20 year old acting idiots ,who can't control their actions or behavior.I have been to Napcar races where the behavior wasn't that bad and those "bubbas" were long gone fast.Keep the family values in sprint car racing, the way it should be today or the empty stands won't pay much of a purse.

Add me to that list, and for the record the group I sit with here in AZ would have put those jerks over the high side.

Chris, heck I hardly ever got to go to the pits at the Gold Cup with my booth and all (thanks again Robbie and John) but there was no doubt about the fun we had after the races there, Lord help me remembering some of those nights, whew....

A guy so drunk he is throwing up takes one to the noggin and he wakes up in the bambulance or jail, seen it many times this would have been one of those nights!
