Just saw on the Vra site purses have been lowered yet again. What a shame!Six classes running tommorow and they are only paying two! Great money if you can get it,how long can this last?

This is completely incorrect. The $800/$100 scale is only if the car count is 16 cars or less.
17-23 cars is $1000 to win, $100 to start and 24 cars and up is $1000 to win, $175 to start.
Senior Sprint competitors were made aware of the changes regarding their purse during the off-season.

Not completely incorrect, partially incorrect and for that I appologize. But facts are facts the ones being hurt here are the racers/car owners! All those pit passes/entry fees are still being paid, with yet another purse restructuring!I don't remember the purse going up when 35/40 sprints were there?

No promoters = No racetracks to race or watch racing at. It is a vicious circle we are in now. As car owners, we would love to be compensated for the show we help put on. The reality is with sponsorship at pretty much an all time low for tracks and teams, the stands are not close to the capacity they were 10-15 years ago, and costs for everything sky high, something has to give.
I don't think there is a promoter out there that doesn't want to pay the racers 5 times what they are getting paid now. For that to happen, they need to make money too.
Most of us who own cars, no matter what the class, do so because we love to race. The purse is secondary to the passion of the competition. If we can afford to race, we will. Sure, great purses help keep more cars at the track more often, but this is our current reality. I applaud every promoter out there trying to keep the tracks open that we love to race and watch races at. Hopefully we can start getting this sport healthier again in the near future.
