Bryan Hulbert - Las Cruces, NM (March 13, 2012) - The most prestiges 305 Sprint Car race in the United States is only a few days away and the word is out that some of the biggest names to ever sit behind the wheel are on their way to the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Once again piloting a Casey Mink’s owned machine Bartlett, Tennessee’s Jeff Swindell will make his second appearance at the ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout. Taking the preliminary night win in 2011, the former ASCS/World of Outlaws regular will again try for the $5,000 payday but the local hero’s may be the least of Swindell’s worries.
Fresh off a pair of podium finishes with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MavTv, Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Johnny Herrera will also be making his second trip to the “City of the Crosses” with a 305 under the hood. Very familiar to the Southern New Mexico Speedway, Herrera’s last victory at the Southern New Mexico Speedway came in 2011 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MavTv.
Also joining Herrera from the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour will be current point’s leader and two time National Champion Jason Johnson. With the next Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race scheduled for March 23rd and 24th at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, all roads from the Lucas Oil ASCS season opening swing in Arizona lead past the Southern New Mexico Speedway.
Continuing the list of racing royalty will be 2008 All Star Series Points Champion Dale Blaney. Piloting a car for Baughman Motorsports, the former Kings Royal Champion will be making his first visit to the Southern New Mexico Speedway in a 305 Sprint Car.
One driver rumored to be in attendance is Danny Lasoski. If confirmed, the former World of Outlaws Champion will also be in a Casey Mink’s Motorsports entry.
Regional drivers making their way to the ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout include Lubbock, Texas racers Brandon Black, Leighton Crouch, and Preston Peebles along with Amarillo, Texas hot shoe Derrick Drown. Drivers from Kansas and the Midwest are also expected to make the trip.
Local drivers expected to be in attendance include inaugural Shootout champion John Carney II and reigning champion Wes Wofford along with Royal Jones, Dylan Harris, Lorne Wofford, JR Patton, and Kyle McCutcheon just to name a few.
In its third installment, the ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout will feature two nights of racing with the preliminary night awarding $1,000 to the winner and the finale paying out $5,000 to the weekend’s champion.
Happening Friday March 16th and Saturday March 17th, the ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout will also feature the MSD Ignition Limited X-Mods, Late Models, and Hornets. Both night of racing are scheduled to begin at 6:30pm with gates to the grandstands opening at 5pm.

Let me guess. One of the draw names is running an ASI engine?

I wish we had a better idea of who all is coming. I think we will have 40 or more.
Bluteam, you can make all the smart comments you like, we are racing and we appreciate people who help us out with sponsorship money, maybe you would like to offer up some extra money for a no name driver running any motor, we would appreciate it and any other help. Oh and thanks for helping keep out posts towards the top..

I'll take that no answer as an answer of yes.
Rather than issue a challenge to someone in order ot shut them up, you could figure out a way for you to help out those no name drivers running any motor. You see, I'm not the promoter of YOUR event. You are. If thats what promoting is.

Royal, it does no good to argue with people that have that much negative in their lives. I guess Ted just needs a hug.

blah blah blah. Not drinking the kool-aid does not constitute being negative. Brushing people off with double dog dare answers is. Or assuming you know someone to think a simple hug is the cure all.

now who is making the smart comments.
No need to say you're sorry. He with the gold makes the rules. That's the way it's been since the time of tin soldiers. Thanks for being upfront with your intent and what is important to you.

Hope you know that I am not trying to be a part of the argument, I was just curious as to how many cars you are expecting..........
I do think that it is a shame that ASCS has thrown their hat in the 305 ring though. We can all see how they screwed up the 360 deal, but whatever. At least they are creating a situation where 410's can make a come back. So I guess that we owe them a thank you..........All of that having been said, none if it is aimed at your race..........Good luck to you folks, I hope you have a great show.

Three years in a row the big names have showed up and three years in a row the local driver won the big night. John Carney II from El Paso, Texas charged from seventh to win his second ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout.
Thank you to all the everyone who raced, came to watch, and listed online. We look forward to having you all back in 2013.

can you provide the names of the first 4 drivers from each night that did not make the main events?

No I cannot because if I did then I would be providing you
an unfair advantage over those who are not as “skilled” in using the internet
as you and therefore would be creating a playing field in which I am favoring
the better over the lesser.
It is just simply not within my power after reading your
words of wisdom to possible give you this information without knowing that
there are at least 4 people who could be cheated by a deed worthy of tribunal.
All I can provide you with is a wish of good luck and God
speed that you may on your own find the names you seek.
