That is an excellent question. Maybe in ten years we will all have 4 cylinders in them and in 20 maybe really have Briggs OHV engines. I feel the same way, but it is no longer cost effective to do the ASCS 360 thing. Although they have across the board rules they have out priced themselves as well. Maybe we need to sit down with the ASCS and ask them "What Happened"? --------I do think that it is a funny thing that you can build a low budget 410 to run on small local tracks with a group like MOWA for less than you can run an ASCS 360 for. Thankfully there are still some clubs like The Sprint Invaders that are not mandating $40,000 engines to race with them. Thanks to clubs like them, some of us can still move up a little when we are ready to do so. Once they go away I believe that car counts will drop drastically as a whole as most people can not afford a high dollar program.

There's a track in ny called paradise speedway that has a 4cylinder class and there are a few sprints that run there. Mercer and county line now run 305 instead of the big motors

To help with the high cost of fuel, we just got a sponsor that will give someone 400.00 for traveling. We will put the names of anyone coming over 400 miles in a hat and draw . The winner gets the 400.00 ... we may get more deals like this before it's all over.

That is a good thing. Keep on going and your car count may go up. I hope that it does.

Just got some more traveling money for 305 Shooutout.. 5 - 200.00 fuel cards from Pilot Oil for travelers coming over 500 miles. Will probably give away by draw depending on how many cars come from that far away.

Here is another question... All of the "Racesaver" motors have to be tech'd and sealed by either French Grimes himself or a certified tech that French instructs personally. Is ASCS going to seal their motors? If so. Who seals them? If they are not sealed. Is French going to allow those motors to be "Racesaver" legal also? Dont forget. ALL of the "Racesaver" heads must come from and go through French exclusively. From the little I have heard and experieced...French's deal is more and more run like a country club rather than an aspiring up and coming racing series. Not too conducive to the influx of intrest that an ASCS sanctioning will provide.

Sealed motors that run in Smileys 305's Sprint Series of Texas doesn't have that problem Full field of cars in every A main . You might want to go with their rules because they have the car count. You go letting unsealed motors in this then you can kiss it goodbye.

I do believe that a thorough tech inspection of the winner is better than a seal. Too many good motor builders out there that can reseal with your seal a motor that is now cheated up but not looked at because of the glorious seals.
Teching is king in any and all situtations. WOO included.

Now I guess we don't look so silly calling it an ASCS shootout. There is also now a 2,000 to win on Friday and 3,000 to win on Sat race at Lady Luck Speedway the week before our race. Looking good already.
We look forward to having you all come and race with us.

So now that this is a sanctioned ASCS race, are the non racesaver cars still legal?
If you are still allowing the midwest cars, will the TX races allow us too with the added weight?

I can only speak for our track... YES , you all with steel heads are still welcome. Midwest type 305 have to add 100 lbs. Those with steel headed motors that still have the same cam and springs we run only have to add 50lbs.

After engine rebuild costs, food, fuel, tires. EVERYTHING, it ends up costing me ~150-175 a night to go racing, including winnings.

it costs us about $180.00 in diesel just to get to track and back home
