People on this board love to knock the Pa Posse drivers, but one thing that is undisputable, is how many world class sprint car engine builders reside in Pa. Think about these names, Don Ott, Garrett, Rider, Cappetta, Morrison, Kriner, HP, HG and Hershey. These guys build some rockets and have been successful for a long time. I could be wrong, but I am not sure there is another state with as many great engine builders.

Good point. Rider & Morrison seem to be getting more popular. Do many guys still run Kriners?? I know that several drivers used to run them (Kenny Jacobs among others), but haven't heard of anybody running them lately.

At one point Kriner was as big as Don Ott is today, but for some reason teams started to switch to other builders. However, they still are in business building engines but on a much smaller scale.

Yep... seems that popularity among engine builders is cyclical. Tons of winged guys in the 80s and 90s had a Gaerte under the hood... then Wesmar got big... then Kriner... then Kistler... and Ott... and now Rider, Garrett, and Morrison seem to be the hot new setup. I'm not Sigmund Freud, but 90% of switching engine builders seems to be psychological... same with switching chassis builders. If guys think it will make them faster, they'll probably be faster!

yea Sammy now runs Parker's!!! he took a few Ott motors there( he said to have them reworked) I think Parker copied Ott's build!!! Whom on hear( other than Iowa) has heard of Parker before this??? I figure Sammy is getting his pockets lined from Parker!!
I know this Big Game Tree Team always used Ott's before Sammy!!1
Just my 2 cents worth!!!

From what I understand. Garret can only freshen older motors he built. He's under contract with Meyers. That means only he gets new Garret motors

I also remember when Sammy ran Tom Rolfe's deal, they had everything stolen, Ott scrambled to get them motors to run( with out getting any money up front)!!1

Dollansky runs Morrison engines, like Kerry Madson and Lance Dewease. Brian Morrison used to work for Charlie Garrett and then branched off on his own when Charlie went with Meyers.

Of course Big Game used Otts before Sammy and look at how many races they one before they drop the PA junk motors and went with Sammys choice.
Seems to me all the heavy hitting outlaw drivers dont run anything that comes outta the state of PA.
I don't aim to please.
I aim to hit the target.

Ha Ha, I guess you are new to sprint car racing and/or the WoO, because the majority of the Outlaw drivers have/are running an engine made in Pa over the last 10 years. I originally posted this topic, not to turn this into another pissing contest about the Posse vs the Outlaws, but to merely point out, that Pa does have some mightly fine sprint car engine builders. The facts are the facts. Ott, Kriner,Garrett, Rider, Cappetta and most recently Morrison all have had their engines run on the WoO circuit in recent years.

I'm a bit surprised no one mentioned Ed Stauffer as a former PA engine
builder. His motors won quite a few races, mostly with FFR.
On a separate note, (IMO) the surge in demand for Ott engines was in large part due to Rahmer's dominance. He certainly won a lot of race with those motors too.

Seems to me your ignorance of Sprint cars and the outlaws is overwhelming ,bout the only "heavy hitting " outlaws not running a PA motor are the ones still waiting to get on the list,,, your lack of any racing knowledge is almost funny to read as you continually try to insult everytime you post with no knowledge of what your commenting about ,

Funny. Shatz runs Shavers, Kinser well runs kinsers. and the Kahne cars run speedway motors out of indy. Sammy runs motors out Iowa. Sides is on a kinser program. Yep the heavy hitters arent running any junk out of the state of PA.
