I'm new to sprint car stuff. Can you folks give me some pros and cons on VMAC tachs? What do you like about them and what don't you like? Also the same for the TELTAC? Thanks for you input.

"I've heard" only bad things about the VMAC/VTAC. No issues with the TelTac OTP whatsoever.

Just about everyone that I know from this area is running the Teltac in thier midgets without issue.
We have run the Teltac OTP in our sprinter for the last 2 1/2 years without issue. Just battery changes every winter.

How do you connect a TelTac to a hunt mag with no external coil?

Don't know about a Hunt mag, but our Vertex mag has a connection point or electrical connector located on the outside housing of the mag that the tach and the kill switch hook to. I would assume that yours should also. But I may be wrong.

I have run the Vtac for probably 5 or so yrs now. I was actually one of the drivers that tested it right when they were coming out. I know some people have had issues with Mallory Mags but I've run them with MSD, Vertex internal coil and external coil mags and have never had any issues.
The features that the new ones have are pretty amazing. 100 laps recorded, 2 highs and 2 lows per lap. It's pretty cool too see which laps you buzzed the tires vs. your laps where you were setting a good lap. Makes you realize really quick on which way to go with your gearing. The TelTac OTP would be the only thing close but it does not read 100 laps...So you can still have some false readings.
