Hey guys first time poster. Im from Cincinnati and have mostly followed the non wing USAC scene for the past 6 years or so. I ran a non wing sprint car weekly for a couple of years in Indiana however I just moved out to the greater DC area a couple of weeks ago. I'm planning on making my first trip to Williams Grove for the Open on Friday for preliminary night and bringing my sister who isnt a real huge race fan. Ive got a couple of questions 1. Is it a good idea to get tickets ahead of time? If so, where is the best place to do that? 2. What does a general admission ticket cost compared to the pits? 3. What is a good time to get there? We aren't hardcore drinkers and plan on coming home that night. But may enjoy an adult beverage or two but wont tailgate or anything. What time do hot laps usually start? Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Jim Gardner

the website is not very helpful for an event that pays $50k to win...call the track - someone there should know something about the event - 717-697-5000.

A general ticket gives you great access at Williams Grove. They have a turn one tunnel that leads to the infield. From the infield you can cross the bridge to the back straight. It's a great facility and give fans very good access to experience it from multiple locations.

I would suggest getting seats as high-up as you can though. The trailers can block your view across the track of the opposite straightaway. You can purchase tickets in advance at: 717-697-5000.

Friday won't be as full as Saturday, but the campers will be there already which can make it a challenge to park. I'd plan on getting there fairly early. The Grove also has the absurd policy of not letting people in until 5 30ish, which can lead to long lines in both the ticket windows and the gate for people trying to get the general admission seating on the frontstretch.

Also, frontstretch is fairly quiet, with alot of sober people. Backstretch is the place to be if you want to drink heavily or be around people who are drinking heavily.

I`m from cincy and make the trip to the grove 2-3 times a year and get tickets at the gate and sit on the frontstretch.

also if you have an interest in cars there is a huge swap meet just up the road in carlisle the same weekend as the open.

I went to Grove for the first time in June for the All Stars and it was an awesome experience. We sat on the backstretch and had a blast meeting and partying with some of the Beer Hill Gang! Going back for the National Open next week to start a new annual tradition.

Check out the Williams Grove Speedway message board and they can answer any questions you might have about the event. A lot of activities going on through the weekend!

It is better to get your tickets early by calling the Grove office , even though Friday's crowd is not as big as Saturday's . Usually the tickets are cheaper 27.00 or 28.00 for Friday then Saturday , pit pass is usually 30.00 ? I think , but check there site or ask them when you call for tickets .

It good to get there early at 4 or 5pm even on Friday to get a decent parking spot on the front stretch or behind grandstand . Watch warmups from infield 1st and 2nd turn then go back to your seats to watch time trials and races . Too bad you can't stay for both days , it is really enjoyable both days . Get your seats up high as you can , as someone else pointed out to you .

Warmups at 7-7:30 , then time trials followed by races , if I can help you further call me at 443- 974-7027

Might want to get there early for your sister , as she might like to go to Ashcombe right up the road from track , flowers , garden and other nice things to buy or see to take home to Ohio .

Last year I think it was $30 both nights for GA and $30 for pits on Friday and $35 on Saturday. Yes I know I said GA and Pits were the same price on Friday. I though it was strange then that I could pay the same for a pit pass as GA and not have to wait in a half-mile long line.
