You can also "duck down" into the infield very easily at Chico.
Also a good place to sit in your car and watch the race!

I have been to many GSC races this season and by no means am I a Danielle Simpson fan. Every race I have watched she has taken someone out or wrecked her self but she is a rookie and daddy has alot of money.. I am glad that there is a extra car out there on the track but she needs Lots more experience before she runs the gold cup thats my take.. for crying out loud she cannot finish in the A main on a GSC night what makes her think she can run the Gold cup and be successful....

actually she did @ petaluma just to prove u i believe i saw it

What you dont see at the end is Lucas taking out a tree, the same size as the one in the background. The #5 team had a few choice words with the #6up car after that one.

Thank God Lucas walked away...

Some might say you can't have a big wreck on a 1/4 mile track.
WRONG.
That was a really nasty one with car parts flying everywhere. Bad one.
To me she didn't dramatically slow down which would indicate she was trying to enter the corner from the high line. It was an awkward move... but based on the comments about her in here wouldn't be atypical.
Maybe she was going off in 1 to enter the pits.
Either way... one of them there "racing deals" and fortunately the only things wiped out were a tree & the owner's pocket.

I too was not there and it's hard to tell from the video, but could she have been trying to leave the track? One of the 2 track exits is right at the end of the front stretch over turn 1.

I was sitting on the top row in the turn 1 bleachers.. My thought also was that she may have decided to exit into the pits, several other fans sitting there mentioned that also.. Just glad they both walked away.

I know at some tracks you are NOT to exit outside the track. If there is an issue, you come to a stop on the inside fence or exit to the infield. You NEVER go back across the track to exit. Whether that's what she was doing or not, who knows.

We were at The Gold Cup in Chico, and we are just so thankful that Lucas is ok.. Danielle and Dan Simpson may have the money for the good equipment but that does not buy talent.. They both need to stick to their horses, cause you cannot harness a 410 like you do a horse. They do not have the experience to run that caliber of a car.. They will ending up killing someone, by what, oops did I do that?? So senseless was this accident involving Lucas.. The only thing left of that car was the seat, one tire and some parts of the steering mechanism. He had a very good chance at winning or coming in the top 5 at Chico. I hope Danielle will at least has the guts to call him personally and apologize, but she probably doesn't have the guts for that either..

Wasn't as bad as the Allard/Schaffer wrekk earlier this year but still was nasty! Thank God nobody was hurt! Amazing he could walk away.
I'd rather be in Knoxville.

Hey, I spoke with Myles Bishop and apparently the Simspons were talking to him about hiring him as their driver, well he is still available if they are looking for a decent driver for their cars. if they want to race their own cars, then stay on your own track. You have a track in your back yard, then stay on that track so you will not injure or kill anyone else in your attempt to run with the big boys,. some of us know our limits, maybe Simpsons should do some assessment checking of their own ....signed " Bubba"

Yes, I think you're right. Jimmy Sills should be able to teach them quite a bit.. since they don't know very much now..

After watching the video several times and reading the comments on here. The real deal here is that she should have pulled to the infield. To me you can see her front wheels turning to the right just before impact! She came out of turn 4 and down the front stretch in shape and at the end her wheels where turning to the right just before contact was made.

As soon as her car got over on the left rear it was going to do nothing but go right. For whatever reason when she enters the field of view the car is hard on the left. Maybe she almost spun it, saved it, and stomped on the gas but it's safe to say that for the most part she was along for the ride as was Lucas unfortunately. The same thing was happening to the car that sent Jac into the backstretch stands which ended in the loss of a life of a man in the stands at Gold Cup one year. Haud had just passed Andy and Steve (if memory serves right) for the lead in the Saturday A feature only to have a lapper (a local BTW but with more experience than either Simpson) send him off the track and into the turn three backstretch stands. It was a crappy end to what was to that point 4 great nights of racing.
