Anybody else out there wish that the scrambles weren't cut out of the show?

Wouldn't be much of a "scramble" on a day time track.
More like a choo choo train and pretty much would screw the guys that currently have front row starting spots.
Then again I've never been real fond of the scrambles anyway.
The Fri night ticket is a rip off for what you see comparative to the other 3 nights and most other races I attend.

I have to agree with kooks. I always thought the scrambles kind of screwed the top point guys. Never much passing on a worn out track. With the total invert if the points are close you could wind up starting 4th or 5th instead of front row.

yeah, I agree with Kooks about friday already being kinda lame to begin with, but at least the scrambles had some potential for possible drama, but how do you sell Saturday's day show now?

I think it sucks because I'm a Dewease fan and I was hoping to see him move up a few spots by winning the B scramble from the pole. On the other hand it will be cool to see Brian Brown start on the pole of the A and have a chance to bring one home for the Knoxville regulars.

Save the tires for what?
Read that real slow and you don't think they will totaly work up the track before the night show.
You don't want the cars that have worked real hard to get where they are to wreck and then not have time to get ready for tonight.
Having to throw a new frame together in a couple of hours and have it right is hard to do.
Tires have nothing to do with it

Here's the real question... What will they do with the purse that was to be paid?
Pole Position Scramble C - $3000, 2000, 1000, 900, 800, 700, 600, 500, 400, 300 B - $5000, 4000, 3000, 2000, 1000, 900, 800, 700, 600, 500 A - $7000, 6000, 5000, 4000, 3000, 2000, 1500, 1000, 900, 800
Total Scramble Purse $59,900
I'd love to see them add that to the positions from 6th on back.. divide it up and split it up on those positions.

Put the money from the C scramble into the C purse.
Put the money from the B scramble into the B purse.
Put the money from the A scramble into the A purse.
In future years just drop the scrambles.
Run a full qualifying program for the non-quals including TT and FULLY inverted 10 lap heat races. Cheapen up the tickets for Fri night and or make the purse for the Non quals the same as the Wed/Thurs. Just no chance of starting better than 11th in the C on Sat.
The non quals could put on just as good of show on Fri night as the Wed/Thurs shows if the format wasn't so crappy.

I think the biggest reason for the scrambles is so the fans can see the top dogs run on friday night....They tryed race of states and other races to try to get the top dogs to run and only half of them would show up. I think that if a driver/team has earned the points in their qualifying night thats enough---but from a promoters stand point----if you are charging $40 a head to get in then they should see the stars.....This year 50 laps and your starting in the top 10 you got a shot to win this thing with the fuel stop.

Love the scrambles and enjoy the scramble format.... but agree there is no reason to run them during the day; just no real opportunity to advance.
IMO, the current Friday night plan is a good one. I agree the quality of the show isn't the same as Wed/Thur, but I'm not going to argue with the price tag comparision; the experience of being their live is worth a lot IMO. Thought it was a great move to go with 2 semis and a feature. I would love to see a full show (like wed/thur), but I believe the points Wed/Thur have to carry a lot of weight.
One change I'd like to see is a full scramble of qualifying cars for the B and A. As the parity has increased it seems the Wednesday night qualifiers end up in a disadvantage on point totals due to a heavier/faster track. Would be cool to see a full invert of A-Main qualifiers for 10 laps.... perhaps more emphasis on passing points over finishing points. Just a thought..... I enjoy what we have now a lot though.

They should make the Friday "world Challenge" into a spring/summer fan voting promotion for the entry drivers from the tracks around the country at outlaws and weekly shows. Start a 24 car A main lined up by a one lap qualifying and pay 50,000 to win. Make a big deal out of it "for the fans" and give the driver some kind of a title "Mr. Fill in the Blank"
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

vanh is right. Don't tear up an A main car the afternoon before the race.
I really like the idea of a full program on Friday night for the non-qualifiers in addition to the scrambles. I guess I just really like a lot of racing.

The purse money was split up evenly between all the competitors in each Scramble.

I liked the old Friday night shows. Non-qualifiers, which what Friday is for and the mystery feature and the race of the states feature. Don't like the scrambles or the World Cup.

What Tha? They split the purse up for the scrambles? Only Knoxville... Did they refund the ticket holders who paid full price for the tickets that funded that purse????????

I do feel we were given a partial show this Saturday afternoon. I like the scambles when they are run on a ideal track, but what we had this afternoon was not the right track for the scrambles to race on. Although I've seen much worse afternoon racetracks here in the past. I understand the weather situation though and theres not a whole lot that Knoxville Raceway could have done different. Just forget about it.....cause tonight will more then make up for it.
