I noticed nobody has said anything about this yet. We (myself included) are the first to jump all over the track/promoters when something goes wrong and yet nobody has posted this positive note. Granted it isn't a whole lot, but it is ten times better than nothing. I have to give the Rubens credit for trying to help increase their 360 car count.

Huset’s Announces Exciting Championship Sprint Changes
Brandon, SD (6-4-10)
- (June 4, 2010) The evidence is clear that this is a tough financial year for all of those involved in the great sport of racing. In an effort to help the local sprint car scene, Huset’s Speedway has met with the championship sprint car representative and developed a list of changes that will be tested. The goal is to help relieve some of the financial burden on the teams, while keeping the racing close and exciting for the fans.

First, the payout for the championship sprint car class is going to be increased to $800 to win. The speedway understands that loading more cash into the top only benefits one team a night, which is why the class will now pay $150 to just start the A-feature. That is increased from the previous amounts of $700 to win and $100 to start.

Secondly, teams have expressed issues with the sizes of the Goodyear tires, especially for choosing stagger for heat races. That is why the championship sprints will now be allowed to run any brand tire on the left year of the car for heat races. The tire must be a 30 compound or harder. The tire can be used on the left rear all night. This way teams don't have to have another wheel with a tire mounted up. This heat race change should also give teams a chance to use up old tires that may still be left around.

Third, the championship sprints will now use a draw/redraw system to line up the heats and features. Drivers making their first appearance at the track for the season will line up at the back of the heat race grids. However, if they qualify through the heat, they can be part of the redraw for the feature line up. There will be *NO penalty for missing a week and all drivers that have competed at least once will be allowed to draw for heat and feature starting positions.

Fourth, the speedway will give out a new Goodyear tire to one team a week. The method is yet to be determined.

Fifth, teams making their first appearance at the track for the season will get a one week grace period on their tires.

These changes will begin this Sunday, June 6, 2010. The speedway will use these changes for two weeks and then meet again with the class representative to reevaluate the current situation in the division. More changes could be made until the right combination is found that benefits the teams, the fans and the speedway. The track is also looking to go to a harder tire selection for the right rear, but wants to talk that over with the current teams.

All of the above mentioned changes will be discussed at the pit meeting this Sunday, June 6.

Also - for 410 sprints, they will be able to use any brand left rear tire, must durometer at 30 or harder, for hot laps, time trials and heat races. The Outlaw Sprints MUST run the Goodyear on the left rear for the feature.

Hope these changes will help. I have seen a number of the USRA Sprints have been going to Jackson on Saturday nights and a couple Jackson 305's even came to Husets last Sunday. Has there been any consideration of Husets mirroring the Jackson 305 payout for the USRA Sprints? I know of a couple more 305's that would make the trip for a chance at a few more $$'s.

a lot of people on this board knock the rubins, but if they keep on doing it there wont be too much racing left in sd,they are trying to help cut costs and run affordable racecars.

A lot of people knock the Rubins because they don't run Huset's to it's potential. They have certainly not been helping the racers by changing the tire rules every year. They can't even leave the hobby stocks alone. That should be easy.

They would be better off to run ASCS rules for the 360s and Knoxville rules for the 410s. Whatever Hartford runs for their taxis, Husets should too. If they do this I'm sure they would have better car counts.

There are 3 reasons why Huset's has car count issues.

1)$

2)Rules that keep changing and are not the same as other tracks. The best tire rule (competition wise) that they ever had was the spec American Racer right rear from about 10 yrs ago, those things couldn't hardly lay rubber on asphalt.

3)Huset's can really tear up equipment.

#3 is hard to change and mostly in the drivers hands but 1 and 2 are within the managements hands to address and it seems like maybe they might be waking up, finally after years of car counts going downhill maybe they are starting to see the light.

I have been asking for the complete payouts new and old and they will not give it. My thinking is that they just redistributed the money. Also look at all the money they have saved this year so far only paying 8-10 places. That is $1000 per night at least, just in the 360's. I understand the crowd is not there but that is because of the car counts, and that is their own fault. If I was a betting man I would bet the track will be sold in 1-3 years. I can only think of one person that would buy it. Any thoughts who?

Hopefully either McCarl or Tod Quiring, either way hopefully McCarl runs the place.

Huset's could use a new owner and more importantly a PROMOTER, currently they do not have one.

This absolutely WREAKS of the same desperation of the last year the Rubins ran Lake County Speedway and gave Cressman and others big $$$ for appearance money to go to LCS instead of Hartford. The Rubes FINALLY started shelling out some money to attract cars right before they shuttered the place. We can only hope Huset's IS sold to someone that cares about the racers and the fans- the sooner the better.

Big $$$??? dang you must be new beev, just a little fyi, there was no big $$ as you have stated for us to go to Lake County. Johnn went there because he wanted to run there. They did however offer $5 off the pitpasses for new cars to come up and run with them, which that BIG $$ that was saved went to fuel to drive right past I90. Have a nice day!

Why would anyone want to buy Huset's anymore. It is on borrowed time, it won't belong before the city of Brandon shuts them down. The land is worth squat.

I would not say they gave anyone big money but I know they guaranteed some driver's certain place money. Maybe like 5th?

Not gonna argue about this because I REALLY DO NOT CARE, but Chuck I guess you are telling us that the Rubes DID give stock car drivers "appearance money" to run LCS in its final hours but Cressman up and decided to go there for the heck of it. On the off chance this IS TRUE if I was Johnn I would be mega PO'ed that stockers got extra $$ and an invading 360 driver DIDN'T. BTW it was cash stapled to the check so it'd be impossible to prove/disprove this 3-4 years after the fact.

I consider myself lucky that mother nature has won the battle this Sunday. I drove 230 miles to watch good racing Sat.. This track and the 3 promotors are in the toilet. I didn't see 1 pass in 3 sprint features on 6/6/10. the track seals over during the heats, they don't pay worth a crap, and enforce a tire rule that only benefits they're wallets. I hope I save $12 every Sunday night the rest of the year. I will be traveling to see good racing at fan friendly tracks in the midwest.

Hoping it's a farmer who needs some pasture land. Buying Husets, with all the issues from Brandon city board and a rubin on that board, sounds like a nightmare. I wouldn't do it. Fill it with water and fish.

Hey Carboy,

What Brandon city board are you referring to with a Rubin being involved on a board?
