I am looking for information about my father, Robert Lawrence Campbell. He is no longer living but I have always been told he raced midget cars in Oklahoma. This would have been either in the late 50's or early 60's I think. Can someone help point me in a direction to begin this search. I have tried general web searches, but this is something specialized enough I am not having any luck. Thank you for any assistance or consideration.

Gilbert Hutson of Lawton could know. There were and are still quite a few that ran midgets in those days still around. Not sure about the early 60's but they did run midgets well into the 50's at Taft Stadium and Tulsa. After that modifieds pretty well took over the scene and midgets became special shows instead of regular shows after that.

You might try Highbanks Hall of fame ,its the National Midget Racing Museum,, Its in Belleville Kansas. Just put in Bellleville Highbanks and Google it .It will have a number you can call. Bob there might be able to give you some direction also,, if he traveled racing like some of the Midgets guys did back then he might be able to help. I looked at the records from Joplin when they were here in the early to mid 50s i did not see the name.

You might try going to the Tulsa World Newspaper they have records on microfilm there, you might be able to find race results with his name in them,,or try at the paper at whatever town you know he raced at. This has worked for me nicely in finding things.

Win as if you are use to it.And lose as if you enjoyed
it for a change. Its hard to get to the top and alot
harder to stay there.

Here's a couple of suggestions. You didn't mention a city/town where he lived

Danley Clow was the photog from 1945 to 1969 and published the programs for the Tulsa area tracks. He is a legend for the Tulsa area racing.

You might enter the same info in his guestbook below?

Many of the viewers here read the forum but hundreds are not into posting here, so maybe a phone number or your e-mail would help the older viewers, they would rather talk on the phone than post.

If you live in the Tulsa area maybe attend the Tulsa Area Racer Legends Lucheon every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa. $11.00 for an all you can eat buffet. Pass it around who you are looking for info on and maybe but not right away someone will remember, you know on the way home it will hit them or while there looking through old photos one day or programs??

I noticed on this page http://www.danleyclow.com/page33tulsastockcars.html at Danley Clow's website there is a Floyd Campbell racer. Any relations?
