That sounds like the people that use to call about the noise even though the races where rained out. Don't be mad at Lanny he needs the money.

Did they REALLY used to call even when the races rained out? Do they still do it?

The Bishop 3 ring mufflers are a lot better quality than the Smileys, but there were still some failures of the Bishop mufflers in the modifieds.
If you will go to the rules page you will find this:"Custom Craft Muffler / Insert or Cone Muffler - 3 1/2 in. maximum"
So good news you do not have to buy new mufflers! Lanny is giving you a choice as was stated above! Therefore if you do not like the 3 ring style you can use the Cone style or if you have the 3 ring style and do not wish to purchase the cone style you do not have too! Everyones a winner in this deal, I know its rare when dealing with Lanny but for once a rule that makes sense.

why dont they just let you run whatever you like as long as its below a set amount??? the borla mufflers are extremely quiet and make the most power of any muffler

Powerslide, I could not agree with you more. You should be able to run the Muffler of choice as long as it complies with the dba level required. But apparently it is much simpler just to say, YOUR GUNNA RUN THIS MUFFLER or be disqualified.
By the way, don't cut loose on a fart in the Pits, you might get a two week suspension.

I went out and rolled the track with no mufflers and they about come un-glued!!!
As for the three-ring, all you have to do is measure and mark where all of the three rings are on the outside of your headers, drill three holes around your header pipe, and the stick the muffler in and tack weld all of those holes and you will not blow them out. Done it for 2 years now and have not had one problem!

i used the same set of inserts since they started makeing us use them... i just slide the insert in and fold the tip of the colector to the inside in about 3 or 4 places and ive never lost one and have always been able to fold the lip back out and pull them out if i went to a track that didnt require mufflers.. No welding and no bolts..
