And now it's time to get ready for Ada! The participants at Wichita Falls have all reported on their experiences, the track promoter also. Heard a lot from the fans too. All good.
Unilateral support, and it's real. I know you guys hear a lot of exaggeration from time to time. But this is in 'go' mode. We have some cars that didn't make it to Wichita Falls, but they'll be looking at Ada to make up for it, count on it.

Brian, On that #9 car above. It appears that sticker on the car is from New Paris Ohio not Iowa. I looked the shop up on the internet and it is still in business.

THANKS WARREN. I'll pass it along.
Okay, now onto Ada.
For starters- Reality serves notice at the last minute and there is always a few cars that are not able to make it. That's okay, they will just want to make it to the next show all the more!
Here are the cars looking to get there

This is an ex- Foyt/Snider USAC Silver Crown car from out of Tulsa. You'll be somewhat surprised who owns it.

Max Estes from north Texas has this fine car to bring in. A lot of nice equipment under those panels and a lot common sense engineering for todays vintage drivers cars.

The Murphee brothers from Texas couldn't make the show at Wichita Falls due to loss of a loved one. So they are really looking to get here as well. The super in the foreground was fired up this week with clutch issues resolved.YES, it is now a running car! That was fast. The body way in the back goes on next and is to be painted.

More owners will be serving notice so stay tuned there.
The names you might recall that stood ten-feet tall in your youth are looking upon this show as well. Open up your old programs, look for the names of your favorite living drivers. If they don't know about this show, tell them. A lot of their friends are coming in, more on that later.
YES SIR! We have turned some heads with this ideer! Still keep your feet grounded, this is a small beginning that looks very likely to grow.

Hope the picture stays up.
If we warm up and dry out so I can get caught up, am going to bring the rusty rail down. Too early to tell for sure now.

Brian,
I noticed on a couple of your posts some pretty cool old cars being restored. I hand lettered quite a few cars in the 80's and early 90's before I broke down and started using vinyl on some of them. I noticed Chief Eaton's old #63 that Dan Diaz drove on the list of cars that have been completed. I hand lettered it for him and would probably do a few more. I think this whole deal you guys have started is great and I hope it works out. I know alot of people are intersted in the nostalgia dragster deal and all the old trick paint jobs. Some of that stuff is still fun to me and I would enjoy preserving some of our history. My email is [email protected].

Tony, that's awesome that you like myself have a passion to preserve the hand lettering on these cars. I too have submitted to the vinyl garb over the years, but I do still enjoy doing hand lettering.
I have always admired your work. I guess all we need to do now is locate Jim Chestnut and talk him into dragging out his ole mops. lol I ran into Rick Knight the other day, he's still at it and looks the same as he did back in the day. D.E. Suggs told me one time years ago "next time you see Rick, tell him I said, get a hair cut and get a job" I reminded Rick of that and we had a good laugh.
Hope you can make it down to Ada for the Harold Leep Jr. deal. Harold sure taught me a lot about lettering.
