I just heard about this by word of mouth. Does anybody know any truth to it? Heard they are running mods, sport mods, factory stocks, pro-street stocks, and 2 barrel sprints. They said mods pay $2000.00 to win, not sure of the other classes. Is the track still in racing condition and how do ya'll think the turn out will be?

For some reason I can't get the web page to open. Anyone have any info like race times, prices, if the purse is guaranted?

thats probably the worst payout per entry fee that I've seen this year. Not to mention the track will probably be in the worst shape ever, heard there was cattle still on it last week. If you look at the sportmod payout and entry fee, if you have only 1 pitman, you would have to be in top three(if you don't tear up anything) to pay for gas and break even.
I believe this should be a forever closing ceremony until CLINTON can try to make it worth something for the 95% of drivers that have to pull to them to race!!!!

Don't you get it? The cattle and what comes as part of it, will keep the track moist and together. It will be just like that red clay that is so previlant in the southwest part of the state. It will stick to anything and you will be able to get good sidebite in the corners due to what the cattle leave behind.
Seriously though, it is the final race of the year in this state so why not go check it out??

I don't see the problem with the entry fee.it includes the drivers pit pass for 2 days,if you take $25 a day pit pass out of that $80 the entry fee is only $30.most reasonable winternationals entry yet.

if you have 1 pitman there goes 50.00(pitpass for 2 days) + 80.00 entry fee =130.00
and I still haven't put fuel in the car or the hauling rig and I have to be a top 3 car to break even. I'm sure once you factor in fuel prices the only person who has a chance to break even is the winner of the A feature!

I spent $60.00 entry and $30.00 pit pass (x2) Saturday and Sunday for a total of $120.00 to race for $600.00 to win. Clinton will cost me $80.00 to race for $500.00 to win. Clinton looks like the better deal if you do the math.

I'll be paying for 3 others to go to the pits, plus fuel.but i quess i allways looked at it as a hobby that was going to cost me know matter what.i've lost money so many years at racing,i thought that was just the way it ws supposed to be.hell i couldn't even get $100 worth of gas in my truck today it wouldn't go past $80 and it was empty.i don't know what this world is coming to with $1.99 gas lol
anyway just there for fun.

yeah, I sure shouldn't be griping!!! Races are coming hard to find this time of the year and I'm happy about that. The gas prices are finally going in the right direction.
Everyone have a great time at clinton!!!!

is it just my take on it - or did gas prices not really effect most car counts this year? i think sure it kept a few away here and there - and surely dominated worry and conversation - but i recall that 1 week before its peak(7-11) - on July 4th at SFS they had an absolutely booming car count among the 5 weekly classes....
i just dont ever really see where there is a drastic rise in car counts since it started dropping - because it never really dropped it off all that much to begin with. jmho. it may have been different at other tracks...i think the effects showed much more in the stands everywhere - as with the prices as high as they were and concerns it would continue to rise - many racefans would not make long trips to distant tracks. i know we declined on many of the saturday nights tracks that are 90 min or more away - and saved the money instead to go to knoxville iowa.
but dam sure glad they dropped like they did. i bet as the prices dropped - so too did the anxiety levels of everyone involved with the sport. but 1 really good thing - is that even as the prices dropped and are low - folks still pay much more attention to how much they drive and how to cut down on it. thats a good thing. i hope next summer doesnt get as bad or worse as this one did there for a while.

I went by the track last night and it looks like they have done a good job getting the track ready. There are no cattle or wash outs. Joe was there and they were getting ready to fix a couple of lights and the speaker system. Should be some good racing.

I know Randy Timms and Brian Wolfe are for sure going to be there. I would expect a really good turnout. I may be there Saturday night myself, front end messed up and all.
