I remember back in the late 70's or early 80'0 there was a Luke Warmwater. I think this was Kenny Weld running under a differant name. Can someone help me on this one?

Not a sprint car driver, but there is currently a midget driver by the name of Stratton Briggs. And you guessed it, came from kart racing. I think that name is awesome! Haha! Sorry if anyone else already said this one. Didn't have time to parse through the whole thread

"Sleepy" Tripp because he always fell asleep in his car when he was a young boy.

We have a David Quackenbush here in PA...but he's more of a moving road block than a driver.

The always popular: Luke Warmwater from Hot Springs, Arkansas.
My Dad, Tom McGarry signed in 1 night as Peat Moss from Garden City, Kansas.
I always find humor in signing in from random cities & states far away from our local Missouri tracks.

Spike Lempelius from Minnesota. Ran 360 sprints for many years. Not sure what happened to him.
|
Someone from the UMSS told me he was talking about building a car to run with the UMSS and they mentioned that he wanted to get a son involved. That's the last I heard and it was several years ago but he hasn't showed up at the track since I heard that. Looking back through my photos and it's been quite a few years since I've seen him around.

Okay,
Being that this site should be renamed markkinserheads...wait that doesn't sound good... anyway...
I have been trying to think of the most random sprint car drivers that either: (a) toured with a major group; (b) participated in a major event; or (c) just had a damn funny name...
So, I am hoping the faithful on here can come up with some good laughs and come up with some names of people that will make you go: (a) I forgot about that guy; (b) who the heck was that guy...
Being an Ohio guy I offer: Van Gurley, Art Wendt, and Daniel Coggelshell (sp?) from the 90s ASCoCs and my all-time #1 favorite driver... RANDY FINK!!!
I am trying to spice up the old Lance Blevins, Andy Hillenburg, and Mark Kinser stories... please provide ridiculous stories as to where they are now...
like, the above four formed a late 90s boy-band called "Running in the Back" which performed nightly under the grandstands at the now-defunct New Bremen Speedway before a love triangle involving the daughter of Eldora's water truck operator caused the band to disband...
|
In the 70's, a DIRT Modified driver by the name Toby Tobias rans sprints also. Sadly he died in one.
No matter how hard you try.........you can't polish a
terd!!!

In honor of his fastest laps in his career just last night, I'll go with The Earth Shaker, Troy Fraker...
