Or perhaps he was from Knob Lick, KY - a bit south of Cincy off I-75.

Actually, I think the young lad hailed from French Lick, Indiana.

He may have been from Beaverlick, KY which is right next to Big Bone Lick state park. Honest - I ain't making this up - Google it if you don't believe me. BTW - I was mistaken about the location of Knob Lick and got it confused with Big Bone Lick state park. Knob Lick is actually in south central KY and Big Bone Lick state park is just south of Cincy off I-75. Once during spring break time, I saw a group of co-eds pulled off by the exit sign for Big Bone Lick state park - they were gathered beneath it pointing at the sign for a "photo op".

Okay,
Being that this site should be renamed markkinserheads...wait that doesn't sound good... anyway...
I have been trying to think of the most random sprint car drivers that either: (a) toured with a major group; (b) participated in a major event; or (c) just had a damn funny name...
So, I am hoping the faithful on here can come up with some good laughs and come up with some names of people that will make you go: (a) I forgot about that guy; (b) who the heck was that guy...
Being an Ohio guy I offer: Van Gurley, Art Wendt, and Daniel Coggelshell (sp?) from the 90s ASCoCs and my all-time #1 favorite driver... RANDY FINK!!!
I am trying to spice up the old Lance Blevins, Andy Hillenburg, and Mark Kinser stories... please provide ridiculous stories as to where they are now...
like, the above four formed a late 90s boy-band called "Running in the Back" which performed nightly under the grandstands at the now-defunct New Bremen Speedway before a love triangle involving the daughter of Eldora's water truck operator caused the band to disband...

I was just a kid when Bill Rook ran at Huesets, and was there the night of his fatal crash. It was so much fun to watch him race and he always had a smile and an autograph for the kids. Thanks for remembering him

For the folks who were around the Midwest in the early 80's, they probably remember quite a few of these names. The top 30 in points at Midwest Speedway from 1981:
NINETEEN EIGHTY-ONE
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

What ever happened to Bobby Allen after he won Knoxville in the 1a Car? He just dissapeared.

One of my all time favorites from the old Manzy days.....Darin' Daryll Dockery. He always had a mighty mouse fastened to the front of the cage and when he more or less retired from sprint car racing he actually went into boat racing! I have seen him from time to time at Manzy, still kicking around.
|
Here is a shot of Dockery's car at the 1979 Nationals....Mighty Mouse proudly sits on the cage.
Also notice in the background...the trailers are there, but not an enclosed one in sight!
