JD,
I'm good with the time and date, have a couple of guys coming with me, plus I'm sure Jim&John Stewart will come, anybody heard from Jim? Brian is Mike going to come I know John wanted to meet him.
When MP hurt himself at Knoxville I was surprised he came back as well as he did, he was a little off but shit if you guys would have seen him, I've seen alot of driver's with pink eye but MP's were like 2 burning red coals. When I went to see him he was in a semi-private room that just had 1 TV between the beds, at first there was noboby in there with him so he could watch what he wanted, well I knew his eyes were messed up because he had to look hard left to see the TV, we were watching something on the tube and he kept looking at me as I was setting on his left man I thought he was staring at me as if I had done something wrong, I hadn't drilled any bolts out on Mussato's car so it couldn't have been that, anyway I finally asked Mike if he needed something, he said no, he kept staring at me so I finally asked what are you looking at and he said the TV which was off his right ear. Man those eyes were swollen!!!!!

Hi, you all
I sure want to come but it depends on how my mom and dad are doing, both are in bad health, Brian knows what is going on. I did get to go to Wichita Falls Saturday and had a great time seeing all my heros again. I want to meet John too.

To All,
Back in those early to mid '80s there was a small group that I ran with Indian Tom, Jack Davis,Sandy Rushing, The Old Man, MP, Shorty, Stan Constant etc. Stan was quite apiece of work as alot of you know, there wasn't much that he couldn't or wouldn't try or do. I use to worry about him for some of the stuff he did. That old body shop was pretty cold in the winter and he would heat alot of it with methenol in a drain pan yep just an open flame, I've walked in there many of time and be a pan or 2 burning and he was in another part of the shop, with all of those fumes and chemical I don't know how he kept it from blowing up!!! We went to Sweat's 1 time to Dyno some motors, we were there 2 days it was an experience, he would let your motor free wind up to about 7000RPM and then full load it, if it stood that you knew it was tough, might not be fast but tough. On the morning of the 2nd day we were running 1 of the old mans motors, it with stood the rod test but when it would get to about 7000/7200RPM the light fixtures would start to shake at 7500 it was brutal I don't know why it didn't blow up, well Stan was pretty nervious as we started on his engine, Stan had alot of 9/16th stroke motors, as Sweat run her up to about 7200 he dumped the load on to it and the oil spewed out the breathers I thought Stan would cry but it actually was a good piece!! One day I recieved a call at the shop from Kay she was upset on her way to hospital Stan had been hurt at the shop and it looked bad, I hauled ass to the hospital and went into the emergency room and there laid Stan mashed flatter then a pan cake, he was working under a Ford truck and it fell on him, the strut rod mount had him pinned to the floor, Rabbit his helper had been out chasing parts and when he came back he saw Stan kicking his legs but thought Stan was jacking with him so he ignored him and went on back to work. When Rabbit came back up front 15 minutes later he realized Stan wasn't messing with him!!, Stan and I knocked heads alot he would choke me with that left arm and punch me with that stub and I would punch on him and we would get on the ground and wrestle 1 another, when I was on top I won when he was on top he won which was about 50-50, the thing about Stan and I was in 5 minutes it was over and we went back to racing. Stan I've always said wasn't the best at anything in racing but he had more heart then 98% of the rest and that made up for anything he lacked, he was a thinker and he and I bounced alot of ideas off one another, he was mainly a Nance man and in the end of the 100" days he had what I think was the best all around 100" chassis it was a special Carol Nance design, I tried to get Rich or Gambler to build a version of it but there feeling what we have works don't mess with it, if they only really knew!!! I burned Stan up with Hydrozine and no telling what other pain I caused him but if I called him even today and told him I needed him right now he would come and I would do the same for him!! He is a very dear friend.

stan was i crafty dude, i have never seen anyone with one arm do as much he has. he was a serious racer, serious body man and even these days'i suppose he is still a fishing guide on texoma. my wife and i have been down there several times with stan and ALWAYS catch fish, hell ,'one time we left the dock at 6.30 and were at breakfast at 9.0 am with 72 fish, 70 stripers and 2cats. stan was good at whatever he tried just un-beliveable. just hope his other arm doesn't wear out before his work is done !!!!!

To all,
I'm ok with the seventh at the time above. I'll get with some of the guys to see who all can come, I know Shane,Havill,Joe Farley,Tom Mercer,Jim&John Stewart,Don Bishop,Butch Roberts,Mike Baccus,Gary Flatt(if he is home by then) and a couple more might come. I'll have Havill go by Walker's to see if any of them would like to come, also see if Ernest & Rickey Jennings would like to come.
David Jones & Jim you guys going to be there, Jim see if Horace or Johnny can come.

David:
I live close to Randy Brotherton and Steve Scott. We all have hot rods now and see each other quite a bit. I might see if I can get them to come with me to your get together on 2/7 if that's OK. I think my wife has every OKC program for upteen years plus several from Goldsby and a lots of pictures. I see Ricky and Earnest quite a bit and I might see if I can talk them into coming.

It took me 60 years to figure out that it is the quality of your friends, not the quantity. One friend that will watch your back is worth many times more than 100 that would put a knife in it.

I saw your reply about your wife having lots of Oklahoma Racer programs, when I was at our Racers' Reunion in Wichita Falls last Saturday and was talking to one of my friends Eugene Hair, he lost everything he had in the 1979 tornado that hit Wichita Falls including all of his racing items. I have given him lots of photos of his cars to help him out. He told me about the time he won at the Fairgrounds I think he said 1968. The program has a headline that reads "Texan wins feature, first Texan to win since Lloyd Ruby". He sure would like a copy of that program, maybe your wife can help out. If so let me know, I know Eugene would love to have a copy ofthat program. I have the program when he won in 1975 when they ran on Tuesday night that I'm going to give him.

I will look through all her stuff. I know I have seen several pictures of Eugene there. Seems like the Wichita Container car (I think Jerry Douglass) and Pat Patterson were pretty regulars @ OKC. I was racing the night the starter came off of the car in front of Pat and hit him in the face. I didn't want to get close to the wreck and see what kind of damage that did to him. Eugene was racing at Lawton when I was. She has Goldsby and OKC programs primarily and I don't know why she never collected any from Lawton.

After I got your request and since I am iced in, I got in the attic and got all of my wife's collection down and went through it. You might ask Eugene if it was the April 1975 issue. His picture is on the front of the program with the article about him sweeping the supers. I was actually there that night. Didn't do too good as I ran 4th in modified B feature. Besides the picture on the front, there are several of Eugene inside the program including with the trophy girl, looks like one with his crew and several in action. You might ask him about that funky hat he was wearing that night. Looks like something out of Harlem nights. I would be glad to let him have this program.

I have that 1975 program which I'm going to give to him, the program he needs is from 1968 when he drove the narrow bodied car, red and white #27 owned and sponsored by the Sims Brothers Garage. We all made fun of that hat, but he wore it quite a lot. It was red, close to being pink. Thank you for offer. We called him "Eugene The Fast Hair", he had a cartoon of a rabbit (hare) painted on that #12 Parson car with a bigfoot, now he calls himself "Eugene The No Hair!" We had lots of nicknames forhim,"Lead Foot", "Gabby", "Gene". He was one of the best that ran around Lawton and Wichita Falls.

I obviously did not pay attention to your 1968 request. When I found that 1975 program I thought I had it. I was not around the race tracks in the 60's. I started in the 70's. We tried. I might talk to Paul Ott's wife. They live not far from me and Linda did the OKC programs for several years. She might know how to source one.

You brought up Lloyd Ruby's name and I remember him being @ OKC races one Friday night and Bud Carson talked him in to presenting the trophys to dash winners. I won the modified dash that night and when Lloyd came over to me with the trophy, he said I sure hope you ain't expecting a kiss. I said I was about to say the same thing. I have that picture in one of the programs. He was a really neat guy to get to meet.

Gary dont know if you recall who I am but I bought glen hunters car back when the ORA started racing on tuesdays. My name is tom johnson. I have been looking for a okc program that had the story about the night of the rookies. Ill never forget that night we went out and won our heat then came back and won the dash. Think we finished 5 or 6 in the A. But the story went on to say that the normal calm glen hunter was seen pacing the stage back and forth yelling for me not to loose my head.
Track was very dry slick and had larry wilson and troy matchen hot on my butt.Heck the rest of that season I tore more stuff up. If it wasnt for jack and ricky walker we wouldnt have made most of the races.

Hey Tommy! Good to hear from you. When I was looking through all my wife's collection of programs and pictures last night, I came across several of you, the car and crew. Wasn't Sluggo part of that original crew when you started driving Glen's car?
