I talked to a guy I guess who is in charge at Round Up on SE 29th in MWC today and he said just come by and get a table or 2 , they don't really reserve but said he did'nt see a problem with getting a table on a Sat. night , the place is packed pretty good for the lunch crowd, I think it should be OK to try it and see how it goes. how about a time say 6:30 or ? .
Let me know what you all think and anybody else out there who has contributed or just reading these post , show up , should be a hell of a time, dam sure know I got a few questions to ask.

Brian,
Bottom pic is Bob Cody with his first Parson car, single rail springer. The 2nd car was a twin to Sampson's car it was a main rail 4-bar.

Man this brings back found times. I used to help glen hunter and later on bought his modfied when they started the ORA thing. We would run okc on friday and lawton or golsby on saturday. Down at lawton lanny had started the modfied program. Back in the day steve gastienau and sluggo helped on the car. I understand sluggo has changed over the years.

Brian,
Lot of history in this pic, this is the Hampton #94 after Lyndon bought it. As you know it was a beautiful car, Had a Wilson engine with Weber carbs, Lyndon was a piece of work I had the privilage to spend alot of time with him He is probably the best paint & body guy I've known, ran in to him at Lawton at ASCS race this year he hasn't changed much still tough as a pit bull, now days he is restoring Ford tractors 9N/8N 600'd etc. He came by my shop about 3 weeks ago and P/U an old NAA that I had bought over in Tennessee, he needed parts to finish one up he is restoring. Man I had a great time with this guy!!!!

I always thought that 94 car was the best and sweetest looking car back then, with the US Mags and it just was really nice and always thought the 94 car and the yellow 99 car that Leep drove , "The Euclid St. Missle" was cars way ahead of there time back then, had light weight pieces on them from what I saw in the pics and heard from the people in the know back then.
Just have a couple of questions about the upcoming get together on Sat. Nov. 22nd at 6:30 at Round Up in MWC.
Are we all bringing pictures, Old Programs to this meeting? I had planned on it.
Curious if it will be just us 4 that have posted on this thread or others out there that just read the posts show up. Just wondering, talked to David Jones last night and like he posted earlier cannot make it , but maybe later on at another get together, Just would hate not having enough tables if more people showed than 1 table could accomodate.
Talked to Chris Smith current NCRA Pit Steward last night and he would be interested in coming to the deal, He is going to look through some of the old pics he has and bring them.
Brian ,David , Jim I know will be there , just be nice to see maybe if some that have not posted and just read this would post and let us know if you might show up, Hell I don't know what do you all think?
I know I am pretty dam excited about this deal, I have talked to Brian and David and seem to be as well. Looking foward to it.
Any ideas or thoughts from anyone?

JD,
I talked to Tom Mercer at Wooley's funeral and he would like to come if he can get the night off from his wife. I'm calling Joe Farley also as he indicated to me he would like to come just depends on how he's feeling. Shane has to go to Charolette on business and can't make it this time but like David would like to come at a later date. I think lets see who else shows up, don't know who Jim might bring sure wish Flatt was in town as he would love this old stuff as he grew up in it like the rest of us. Saw a few of the old guys at funneral Jim & John Stewart (Corvett Center) Darrell Cleveland, Tom Mercer etc. were alot of Wooley's friends and family there and they talked about racing some. I'll let you know if anybody else is coming on my end!!

That would be a good one to restore, wonder if Walker could be contacted about this get together or sometime in the future , they have that Machine Shop on 281 south of Blanchard a mile or so.

I'm thinking Jim White, Gil and Wes's brother was the last one I knew of that had this car. It was blue and yellow at the time in the mid-late 80's. Jim is living in Dimebox, TX now. He surfs through here sometimes, but he is also on fredsresinworkshop.com, there he is called kitjunky.
This was the Plunkett Tile car wasn't it?

No this car was owned by my dad and Bobby drove it.It was built right beside the Plunket car at the same time. This was 1975. In 1976 Terry and Don Doss bought it and ran it as a #96. It was still kept at my house.

David,
Know a little bit about this car, David wasn't this built before Plunkets car by a year? The first Plunkett car that Bobby drove for Jim was a single rail car, it was a springer when Ray drove it, then Walkers converted it to 4-bar when Bobby started driving it, then they built a car similiar to your dads, I know this much for sure this car was the 2nd car that I saw that had an inboard brake, the first one was the #8 that David Brotherton drove, another unique thing about this car was it was the first space frame parrallell front torsion car Walkers built and if I remember right this car had the roller slider set-up to locate the rear suspension. It was a neat deal had an alum. plate mounted to each rear frame rail and roller bearings attached to bird cages that ran up and down to center the rear end. David might remember this story he pissed on me, I had rode over to Tulsa with Gene and family( Novella,Sketter,Robert & David) on the way home just after we got on Turnpike David had to pee so his mom held a paper cup for David to pee in, I DON'TKNOW how a kid that young could fill a 32oz cup level full but he did, Novella handed me the cup and said pitch it so not knowing any better I rolled down window and stuck it out the window at 70mph, well I WOUND UP with most of it on me!!!!!!!

This is a sweet little car. 2 things that stand out to me though that I would like to know more about.
I know the hood and nose are like a Nance, but somehow the hood has more low-crown bulge to it, much like the RC Cola hood found on Midway Vintage Bodies site. The cowl to the nose is just to tempting to ignore. The nose appears lower with the hood raked like it is. You could put any top and tail with that cowl/hood/nose combo and look alright.
That left rear wheel looks like a 10" that has been extended out with a 4" flange cut from another 10" . Dropped into a 10" with a 1.5-2" recess for the bead could give you a 12"-13". Was this a common practice in those days? I've toyed with this idea and it really looks like it is very doable. I know the Elkins #4 had a right rear wheel that was 2 pieces welded together in a somewhat crude, but signature fashion. It is still very useable today. Can't say where it's at, but it's in good shape.
David Jones, is this the car you had in '88 or '89?

I will look back at pics I have, but I thought there were 2 of these built side by side. I always assumed the 2nd was for plunket.
I am glad you told that story. I have told it to several people and most didn't believe me. I have always said I am probably the only person that pissed on you and lived to tell about it.

All I know about the body is that Walkers use to have all the fiberglass molds. I use to come home from down there itching and scratching. I still HATE fiberglass to this day.
Yes the wheels were made wider using 2 wheels welded together. I use to have one I ran on my first 100" car. In fact I have a 6-pin right rear out back that is done similar to this. It has a beadlock on it though.
No this isn't the first car I had. The first car I had was a walker with parallel front bars, but it was a single rail car. We bought it from Terry Sanderson I think.

Harold Lindsey has a top and tail for one of these in Wichita Falls. Think he was doing a mold for those or wanting to. The hood, cowl, and maybe the nose were on Midway Vintage Bodies list of to-dos.
When you know your options and where to get what, it is amazing how possible it is to get close to replicating a car. Todays replica supermodified would probably be a mild steel 1 1/2" tubing cage with a 2" mainrail. Repop bodies are in the planning as interest allows, Speedway is no longer the only source. There are several front noses and hoods to choose from if it is a track style nose one wants. Slot wheels (10" are still easy to get. The list goes on and on.
One part at a time takes a while, but it is the only way I can do them. I have to watch my thirst for the non-engine items, since I still need to get a decent engine. There is a 327 I'm looking at though. I know it's not a 302, but it is close enough for the job at hand.
