We're getting closer to the 2024 Knoxville Nationals and 360 Knoxville Nationals, meaning it's time for the yearly entry list updates thread. The Knoxville Raceway website does a great job of updating the entry list for both races, but it can sometimes be hard to pick out the new entries on each list if you don't check daily. I'll be updating this thread periodically to make it easier to keep track of the new entries each day. Please note, this original post will be updated with the current entry list. The new entries will be noted in new posts on the thread.

How many cars do we expect to see this year at the 410 Nats. Counts have been good so I'm thinking 85 to 90

Side Note: We are way ahead of schedule as far as the number of entries compared to the last two years. Last year on July 10, we had 33 410 entries and 29 360 entries. On this date in 2022, we had 26 entries in the 410 class and 23 entries in the 360 class. It's truly the most wonderful time of the year.

I think they will clear 100 cars in each class easily. 410s had 106 entries in 2023 and 101 in 2022. It was just a few weeks ago that there was 55 cars competing at Husets, 55 cars competing with the IRA/Maverick in Indiana, and 46 competing at Skagit. And that's not incuding the 410s that were racing in Pennsylvania that same weekend. There's an incredibly healthy amount of 410s racing across the United States right now.

The brother just went to work for the KKR9 car.  I might try to make it to Knoxville with dad either the 360 weekend or 410.  Would love to actually put some faces to the usernames on this forum if ya'll are around!

How do you deal with 166 cars? 83 cars each night.  So what??? the top 50 race and slow 36 time trials and put it on the trailer or what?

Nowadays, cars sitting outside of the top 50 either go to a non-qualifiers race (if there are over 10 non-qualifiers) or tail the back of the C Main on the prelim night.

But looking back at the 1991 results when they had 166 cars, it appears that the non-qualifiers loaded up for the night. They only ran five heats with 10 cars each, a B Main, a dash, and the A Main. No C Main or non-qualifier race is recorded in the results. Maybe someone who was there with a good memory can provide further information.

I don't  know how it would be handled now but I know one team that towed out there in 1991 from California and didn't make the cut. They towed home (didn't even stay for the Nationals) vs running whatever they would have based on where time trials put them.

Yes he did. He was another childhood guy I liked. Turns out, as an adult I've come to find out ol Marlon Jones is quite the player...and also a bit of a stiff (as in stiffed me some money owed).  He's sort of a trainwreck I udnerstand
