We went to the very cold saturday night races.  We were well prepared including blankets. Looked like a pretty good crowd for a show that included the Badger Midgets and Dirt Kings Late Models. Decent sized fields for all three classes. The event moved along well until the features. Midgets went first, Sprint cars second and the Late Models last.  Midgets had a wreck requiring the ambulance to transport to the hospital which was fairly close.  Fairly long delay but uunderstandable.  Sprint Cars progressed fairly well then the anchor was dropped with the Dirt Kings Late Models. There were numerous restarts, five or six in the first five laps. Every restart was many yellow laps. We left about half way thru the Dirt Kings feature.  I wonder how many total laps they ran?  We will think twice about attending a Sprint Car race if the Dirt Kings are there . . . . . . it would have been perfect with just the midgets and sprint cars. Half the crowd left after the sprint cars main.

Beaver Dam badly needs a PA upgrade. It was difficult to hear at times even with no cars on the track. They have had TrackTune in the past but it was not active Saturday night. Thankfully My Race Pass was working. The track suffers from poor cell phone coverage even though it is close to the city and the four lane highway. My buddy lives 5 minutes from the tracks.

Sunday I watched some of the FloRacing coverage replay of it which was single camera. Not the level of streaming coverage this series should have. I wanted to see the Midget flip that resulted in a trip to the hospital.

Had dinner at the very close Sixth Gear. Excellent food!

My neighbor Luke Nellis 74n made his 410 debut at Beaver Dam on Saturday night.  They missed the transfer by one or two spots but loaded the car up in one piece.  Not bad for their first night as Luke ran 305's and only had a couple starts with a 360 last fall before going 410 racing.  Looking out at the hauler parked in their driveway as I type.

Where is home?  He gonna run the series?  We try to catch most of the IRA 410 races in Wisconsin. We have our tickets for WoO in Beaver Dam.  I grew up in Plymouth,WI watching the old modifieds then winged modifieds and Sportsmans.

Home is Forest Lake, Minnesota.  Both Luke and Brooke Tatnell run Husets on Sunday.  Luke says he is going to run Husets on Sunday, close Outlaw shows like Cedar Lake and Ogilvie and some IRA but not the whole schedule.  I'm sure this year will be a learning experience.  They have a Ford dealer as one of their sponsors and the goal is to get some Ford power when motors are made availabl.

So a pretty good hike for you all.  I am an hour north of Green Bay, WI. About 2 1/2 hrs to Beaver Dam and Plymouth, WI. 2 3/4 hrs to Sun Prarie and 3 1/2 to Wilmont. Plymouth has a 360 Sprint Car class and the IRA runs there several times. Usually a good show.

It seems like sorting everything out with a Chevy might be easier, cheaper and faster for starters.  However the new Ford and Toyota powerplants may be attractive.

If I travel anymore it's solo and I pay for the motel and have to do all the driving.  Eliminating racing trips makes sense for me with all the big Sprint races on TV.  I go out to Cedar Lake a few times if I want live racing.  I'd be interested in a Husets weekly show where I could setup a lawn chair and dig the camera gear out of mothballs.  I get the urge to photograph a race but I never get a longing to sit on a metal bench without seat backs.  My neck is getting pretty gnarly twenty three years post fusion so I rarely sit on benches unless the family is going to be there.  Everyone I know at the tracks either is gone or still down in the infield, in the pits or is a flagman or official.

I chased races until it hurt so no complaints about still being able to watch from home.  I hung in the pits and infield long enough to get my fill of spent methanol.  I have a couple old friends that want to see the IRA at Cedar Lake.  They're not racing fans to the point of paying close attention but like to see them.  I've got relatives like that but the only one who traveled was my son.  He has been to East Bay and the Ditch while on vacation and has Floracing.

Easy solution here.   Leave after the sprint show and don't watch the late models....

Makes sense.   On of my in-laws raced in the limited mod division at Devils Bowl, so I did the same thing.
