Noticed one detail when HL released the format that no one seems to be talking about... When thay have 32+ cars and go to Flight A and Flight B qualifying, did you see how they divide the groups up? It's not by pill draw anymore. In order to avoid a stacked flight, the groups will be seeded - so for instance, if you say the top 4 drivers are 1. Sweet, 2. Rico, 3. Sunshine, 4. Marks, etc, etc...Brad Sweet and Sunshine will be in Flight A while Rico and Marks will be in Flight B and so on... Assuming the seeding is done via the point standings, how do we feel about this?
It obviously is a move to protect the drivers because if the top 8 cars all randomly drew Flight 1, they would have the top 8 cars in points all fighting for 4 dash spots, while seeding them equally between the flights means the top 8 cars would now be fighting for 8 dash spots.
I secretly looked forward to those ocasion heat races for either the WoO or the All-Stars where the draw created heat races that included no series regulars as you knew you would see a non-touring car in the dash and have a chance at a really good night.
If the seeding is done by points, then I guess that would be the fairest way, but I don't see this as a way of preventing a stacked flight or heat race.... I mean you could argue that those 4 drivers are really the top 4 in the series but you still technically could have all 4 of those drivers listed in the same flight and heat. What I see this doing is it guarantees the 1st and 2nd place drivers in the points chase will never encounter each other until the dash/feature on races that have 32+ entries.
Thoughts?

It's a bit too cute for me, but i do agree competitive balance shouldn't be ignored. I think it should be written in the rules that the race director can make slight adjustments to the order to ensure balance, but unfortunately that would lead to questions of fairness as to who gets moved etc...
So this is a way to address that but it might be using a sledgehammer to kill a cockroach.

Well comeon, can't have the chance of Sweet, Rico and Larson being in the same heat because then only 2 could make the dash

From the 2023 Rule Book.
"Split field qualifying with 40 or more cars in attendance. The top ten (10) in points will be seeded equally into each A and B group...."

Still completely hilarious the people with a hard on of a series that's going to be dominated by the owners of the series...

A race hasn't even been run yet. This just in Brad pretty much dominated the outlaws the last 5 years. 5 championships in a row.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!
