So, I signed up for the Magazind for 6 months for $44.00 and some chage for Sprint Car & Midget.  Well, first issue came with half of the rag sprint car & midget, the other half speed sport news.

Wait, therre's more.  Cleary stated inside mag that this "is the last paper edition" of magazine as it is going "all digital".

Wait, therer's more.  They are giving No refunds.....hm

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

We might not be the same as Sprint Car Midget, but Dirt Empire is not going digital and will still be around. We are 6 issues a year and you can subscribe at www.dirtempiremagazine.com

Quite a few on the forum are subscribers and can attest to our quality.

I've got 15 issues left and am more than a little disappointed with this digital magazine.  I'm old (in 70s) and can not sit at computer or any chair for more than 5 to 10 minutes. 12 veretebrae fused together and the 4 at bottom of lumbur fused twice.   Spend the days on the bed or couch watching tv.  The doctors that I've had give me oxy  to help me have a better quality of life, like attending races and then only able to watch two of the classes, then out to back seat of truck for other two classes,  and  I don't get very many oxy pills.   My wife drives us to G. Forks for the races, I lay in back seat, then when arriving at track, take medicine.  Did have a lap top but it went to hell and not buying another one.  I told the lady at customer service for subscriptions that there is no way I could possibly sit at our monitor and read their magazine or any magazine.  I certainly wouldn't waste the few pills I get to sit at the PC reading their digital mag.  She didn't care.  A doctor's statement wouldn't do, 3 or 4 doctors telling them this would not help.  No refunds, none at all, period!!!!!!  Told her it sucked and that she could go to hell and hung up the phone.  Stinks to holy hell!!

PS   Reason for sitting /standing problem---puts most of your body weight on the 4 lumber vertebrae at bottom of spinal cord and the thousands of nerves running thru there.  Laying down takes all that weight off your lumbar vertebrae.

Probably the start of the end of Sprint and Midget Mag..  I have seen so many of these magazines come and go.  Speed Age magazine was popular many years ago.  Open Wheel mag. was by far the best I have ever seen.  Never did see an explanation on why it went down the tube.  Flat Out is gone, and now Sprint and Midget.  There is nothing like turning the pages of a magazine.  Reading a mag. on e-mail is the last thing I want to do.  Like I said it will be gone.

Glad to know it was not just me that was disappointed. I was a subscriber to Open Wheel magazine which turned into a subscriber at Sprint Car & Midget magazine. I was disappointed enough when it combined with another magazine but after Doug Auld passed away I understood. However, I pay year to year in August. I want to hold an actual magazine in my hands and read the articles. I will probably rarely if ever read the digital format. It was a very disappointing read to find out that they were going digital.

There is so much content on YouTube, the tracks and series and drivers are posting blogs along with more lengthy interviews than I can listen to.  Dirtraceorbust, if you have YouTube on your tv and subscribe to Floracing there is tons of content you can watch while giving your back a rest.  I can relate, I'm 71 and have a two level neck fusion with donor bone, plate and screws holding it together.  It's tough sitting on those wooden and metal bleachers these days.  That is why I spend the evening with a pillow behind me head in the recliner watching races instead of chasing them.  Summer activies like the riding mower wear me out these days.  Like they say, it's tough getting old but it beats the alternative.  Grand Forks is all grandstand and my home track Cedar Lake has areas where we can setup lawn chairs which are a lot easier to sit in.

On the general topic of racing magazines, I enjoyed them and still have a pretty good sized collection of Open Wheel and Flat Out gathering dust.  Likewise racing phots from the late 90's to 2015 when I was taking photos.  There are shoe boxes full of prints, negatives and CD's.  Thousands of photos gathering dust these days because I don't sit at the computer like I once did.  Time raises hell with us but we can still enjoy a race.

thank you for you honest and pecise response.  I also was told, no refunds.  Sad indeed to be bent over by a publisher that won't refund our money, disgraceful!!!  only thing that matters to them for sure is the money.  the power of the internet is strong and powerful, thanks for sharing...

I feel the same way. Once Doug passed away, the passion for SC&M went with him. I want to support any racing periodical still in print...... so I will continue to subscibe to Area Auto Racing News, Speedway Illustrated and the newest dirt racing magazine, Dirt Empire. Nothing like having the actual magazine in your hands. I enjoy information on the internet, Twitter, YouTube, plus Podcasts, etc, but print is still my favorite.

The recent Bobby East article was worth the subscription price alone. JMHO.

Its not their fault they went out of business, but "no refunds" is pretty sleazy....

National Speed Sport News was best when it was in newspaper form.

Subscribed for many years.

Also subscribed the Racing Wheels in California and Midwest Racing News while in Wisconsin.

Sad all are gone and yes got screwed by renewing my subscription to Sprint Car mag a month ago.

Don't really care for the online version.

I still get Speedway Illustrated and Dirt Empire, though Speedway Illustrated had just one fairly long sprint car article, Tyler C., I think, and some good mod articles and others but S.C. & M.//and the other side of that magazine (forget its name) was actually giving you two magazines in one---sort of.  Flo Racing:   I thought Flo Racing was races on video?  What is the cost, and any more info on it that would help me make a decision to buy it.  I liked the one line in S.C. & M  explanation:  we are helping save the environment. Pretty gutsy to put that in as one of the reasons.

For those who are Sprint Car Midget subscribers and print fans. Send me an email with your address [email protected] I will ship you a free copy of our last two issues. We'd love to have you as subscribers, and I'm happy to give you a taste of what the magazine is like. We are in print and we are sentitmental as all get out about print, so we don't plan on going anywhere if we can help it!

Ashley, I love the passion from not only you, but the entire staff at Dirt Empire. I have enjoyed your writing and the magazine is excellent. Well worth the $30.00 per year! Keep up the good work.

Thank you! I'm pretty fond of Hoseheads and how it got me my start in the first place, so if I can share some positivity by sending out some free issues to those who love print just as much as myself, I'm elated to do so!
