Is it just me or does Aaron seem to be embracing the "bad guy" role in the world of sprintcar racing? Did I hear him say during the interview last night that he doesn't give a $#!T and likes the boos? Seems like a tough row to hoe if you're trying to maintain sponsorship and market yourself.

75% of sponsorships in sprint car racing is a tax write off for someone that likes racing not for a ROI.

Like they say it does not matter if they cheer you are boo you as long as you paid to get in.  I see no big deal.

Some of the boos are from those that don't like drivers who cheat. And then there are those who don't like drivers that drive too aggressive to the point that it appears to be a "dirty driver".

Always get a laugh at the people who think a business can make money by losing money. All expect some return one way or another.

I have sponsored several race cars rather help my friends than give it to the government. You obviously don't own a business.

Q. How does one go about changing a "bad guy" persona and get fan's that hate you to like you ?

A. You can't, it's impossible.

So with his embracement of the bad guy role, it appears that Reutzel isn't losing any sleep at night worrying about what the said boo'ers think and or about needing sponsorship monies.

Yea. I do and have for 45 years. My tax advisor tells me all the time that she wishes all her business clients had as good of an understanding of the tax code as I do. Your return one way or another as I said was to help a friend. It did reduce your taxes but you didn't make money by losing money like some think businesses do. It dose help to make it that it doesn't cost as much for a business to sponcer a car as someone who can't deduct it.

Yep, Have sponsored cars and races for years and don't expect a ROI, if it does its just a bonus. I also got tired of giving it to Uncle Sam!

Well, it works for rap singers and pro wrestlers, so why not?

It's different when people get boo'd because they dominate and people dont want to see you win anymore, like Schatz for a long time.  They boo Reutzel because they just don't like him lmao.

Aaron did not get caught cheating, he  got caught trying to cheat.  Maxim said frame was legal when it went out the door.  I did not know that .095 tubes can vary from .088 to .095 and be legal.  Sand blasting  of frame may take it to less than .088.  Still he knew frame was not legal.   He learned his lesson.  You could write a book on cheating and some of the best known teams would be in the book.  It might be less now than 20 years ago.

What advantage could the thin tubing give him if he had not been caught?  The car would still have to make minimum weight.  The thin tubing might be more susceptible to breaking and that isn't an advantag.  Does the car flex more and handle better or is it simply a matter of you broke a rule designed to ensure the frame is safe?

ah did you hear about Robet Ballou at speedweek this year.

They flat out threw beer cans at him on track and he was booed everytime he hit the track.

wonder how long that will last.

It was a Triple X chassis. Not a Maxim.

I believe on one of the first 2 or 3 threads churning up this muck, it was said thar he liked the frame because of the way it flexed. Of course, I could be wrong and your mother could be wearing army boots. wink

My mom left us in 1962 and was wearing shoes in the casket.  It happened in August so I will have to take a look but it was pretty close to 60 years ago to the day.  Wtf does she have to do with my question about a chassis rule?

Sorry. Recent experiences on this forum have resulted in getting verbally asulted for answering simple questions. I figured I might as well get in the first lick.
