So, I see the prior message was 'closed by moderator', not sure why???

BUt with this weekend of heavy racing coming, in all forms, there's not much being said about tires.

Is Indy 500 safe for tires, imagine the debacle that'd be with no tires avail?

Same could be asked for Nascar Coke 600, all the regional organizations, down to dirt trackers.

Wishing one and all a good Memorial Day; please take a moment to honor the fallen!

It seems the number one topic from 2021 is going to be the number one, two, three, four, and five topic for 2022. Point blank the tire situation at most tracks is going to be worse in 2022 than it was in 2021 and it’s time we all come to grips with that now.

Waynesfield was supposed to run unsanctioned winged 410s Sunday night and cancelled that portion of the program (still running BOSS non-wing, NRA 360s, and USAC D2 midgets ) because most local teams weren't planning to run due to tires and fuel costs. I think teams are being pretty cautious running anything outside of their normal points schedule.

Thanks dmantx, I didn't pick that up within that posting, unlike the Personal attacks and politics post.

I did catch the Waynesfield schedule change.

Just found this article from Hoosier: https://hoosiertire.com/images/content/files/2022%20Price_Supply_notice_04_07_22.pdf

Dear Valued Customer On April 04, 2022, Hoosier Racing Tire Corporation implemented a price increase on select products. Prices and increases vary across specific articles within different racing segments.

The continuation of unprecedented, skyrocketing costs in four key areas has led to this action: Raw material prices continue to increase at historically high levels with limited supply. Labor costs continue to increase in a tight labor market. Logistic costs especially for imported raw materials are at record levels. Gas and energy costs dramatically increased.

leading to cancelations, open tire rules, etc.

Hoosier daddy can't supply enough tires for the PA tracks this weekend. Still half a season to go.

Kudos to Selinsgrove for doing this.  Let the racers run what want, bring or have access to.  I will be there watching at the true Speed Palace.

I have tried to buy tires.  One dealer only had 7 tires for weekend, they were gone.  Dealer would only sell tires to drivers in points but he never had tires anyway.  Dealer never even came to track because he had no tires.  Dealer only got a few 410 tires, no 360 tires.  Dealer sent an order to HOosier but does not know if he will get the tires.  These are the things that have happened this summer in this area.  A 410 driver skipped a week because his tires were shot and could not buy any.  I am sure that when you shut down a plant the workers need to eat and found another job.  I think the quality of tires has gone down with 5 tire failures in 1 race for 360.  I could go on but it is a freaking mess.  I am glad we are winding down our team after 30 years.
