SCHATZ TAKES PARKERSTORE J&J TO SECOND STRAIGHT WIN
Topeka, KS (Sept. 14) - For the better part of his World of Outlaws career, Donny Schatz has been a strong closer. With less than 20 races remaining in the 2007 season and the championship standings still in doubt, Schatz is making the statement that he's going to continue to be strong to the finish as he chases his second WoO title.
Transport/Snap-on Tools sponsored No. 15 on Friday night, the defending WoO champion and current points leader raced his Global ParkerStore/Tom Johnson Camping Center/Bellerud J&J with Shaver power to his second consecutive win by finishing strong in the 35-lap "A" feature at heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, KS.
"You've got to take every one you can get," said Schatz, following his 16th WoO win of the season. "We got lucky tonight. The car popped out of gear about midway through the race. I was lucky enough to get it back in gear and passed Daryn (Pittman) for second. Then it was just a matter of seeing if we could get past Tim (Shaffer)." (Read More)

Their testing must have paid off and it looks like they are going to go with the J&J chassis and Shaver motors, with this combination, along with a great crew, unless something unforeseen happens I feel Donny Schatz has another chance for another championship in 2007.
Congratulations to the #15 and team!

Thought they were testing this week? Since you seem to be so close are both teams going with J&J and Shaver or just Schatz

You are right, they were testing for a couple of weeks. And to answer your other question, I don't know about Tony Stewart's other sprint car team but the Schatz team is sticking with J&J chassis and Shaver's motors.

I don't know for sure, but I'd assume the 20 would do whatever the 15 is doing in order to 'keep up with the Joneses'. Also, it would be easier for two teams to get all of their stuff from like suppliers. But, maybe they want to have comparisons.

I wonder if Donny brought his own fuel to this event...

I think if that one would want to pick Donny's at this point in time it would be a very good idea. Gota like a driver who works on and understands every aspect of the car and all it's variables. The 20 has been stuck in a rut all year for some reason and fresh thinking won't hurt. It certainly hasn't been for lack of money or effort.Shatz in addition runs one of the best fan interaction and merchandizing operations in my opinion but doesn't get alot of credit for it mainly because he isn't the most bubbly personality on the surface, but definetly puts in the effort.
