Sprint Series of Oklahoma Gets Into Gear This Weekend!
Geary, Oklahoma – February 29, 2016 - The newly formed Sprint Series of Oklahoma/RaceSavor IMCA EMI sprint cars will kick off their inaugural season this coming Friday and Saturday night, March 4-5, at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas as they take part in the tracks Red River Roundup.
Fifteen race dates dot the 2016 race calendar and this weekend will be the first of four scheduled at the Wichita Falls red-clay oval, now operated by long-time Dallas/Ft. Worth sprint car racer Kevin Ramey. Friday night’s feature finale will pay $700 to win with a minimum of $250 to start while Saturday night’s championship finale will pay $1000 to win and $250 to minimum to start. Each night all non-qualifiers will take home $100. IMCA Weekly Racing National, All-Star Performance State, special series and local track points will be awarded.
Over thirty sprint car drivers from five states are expected for the first IMCA RaceSavor sprint car event of the 2016 race season to help kick off the new SSO. Just a sampling of the drivers who have indicated their intentions on competing in Wichita Falls during the two-day weekend include: Shayla Waddell, Cody Whitworth, Joe Wood, Jr., Jason Martin, Jake Buback, Andy Shouse, Ty Williams, Taylor Velasquez, Zach Blurton, Loyd Clevenger, Brian Herbet, Jake Martens to name a few.
The tracks championship sprint division is also welcomed with a few provisions. The itinerary for this weekend’s Red River Roundup is as follows:
Friday, Pits open by 3pm, Grandstands open at 6pm, Draw Cut off & Drivers Meeting at 7pm sharp (individual Series may have different times, so check in with them upon arrival), Track Packing at 7:15pm, Hot Laps at 7:30pm, Opening Ceremonies at 7:55pm, and racing starts at 8pm. General Admission just $15 (ages 12 to 64; tickets available on race night only), Kids (ages 6-11) just $5, Ages 5 and under admitted free with Adult admission (grandstand only). Active Military and Seniors (Ages 65+): $12. All Pit Passes are just $30.
