DON KAZARIAN NAMED “PROMOTER OF THE YEAR” SECOND STRAIGHT TIME!
(Perris, CA, January 14, 2016) While nobody from Perris Auto Speedway won the $1.5 billion Powerball drawing on Wednesday night, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame announced that longtime promoter Don Kazarian had earned the “Non Wing Promoter of Year” title for the second consecutive year. The announcement was made in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.
Conducted by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, the award is voted on by sprint car media members from around the North America and takes in all tracks running Non Wing Sprint Cars.
“It is an honor to win this award,” Kazarian said when informed on Wednesday evening. “It is very nice. The award really goes to everyone who works at the track. We have a great staff that works hard to make this possible and the credit goes to them.”
As well as being honored with the award by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame for the second consecutive year, Kazarian was named the 2015 “National Race Organizer” by the United States Auto Club (USAC) at its annual awards banquet in Indianapolis in December.
In addition to Kazarian being named “Promoter of the Year,” The PAS videographers, Mike and Tim Truex of Loudpedal Productions, were named “Media Member of the Year.” Other winners named on Wednesday were 2014 Oval Nationals winner Robert Ballou “Driver of the Year,” Thomas Meseraull “Wild Card Award” for most exciting driver, Colten Cottle “Rookie of the Year” and Joe Devin of DRC Chassis “Builder/Manufacturer of the Year.”
At the Chili Bowl finals on Saturday night, the winner of the Thomas J. Schmeh Award,” for outstanding contributions to the sport, will be announced. Among the deserving nominees for that award is Mike Grosswendt. A hardcore supporter/contributor of the sport, Grosswendt’s “All Coast Construction” company is the presenting sponsor of the annual Budweiser Oval Nationals at The PAS.
