New for 2016 are special “non-points” special events in South Dakota and Indiana. Two races at Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon, S.D. August 20 and 21 offering a $50,000 winner’s share will be followed by a Wednesday night special event at the Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway which will kick-off the four-night “Sprint Car Smackdown V.”

Really happy that Lakeside is getting two dates, just wish the Saturday show wasn't head-to-head with Knoxville because I can't be at two places at once. On that weekend I'll probably be in Kansas City on Friday night and Knoxville on Saturday night, unless rain changes the plans.

I am bummed that Junction Motor Speedway is not the night after Eagle, it made for a nice stop on my way home. It will be nice to go to Eagle in June instead of April though.

If you are going Saphead get there early. It'll be standing room only !!!
Too bad it wasn't co-sanctioned with Boss.

Has anyone noticed that the track schedules for Eagle and Lakeside show the USAC sprints on friday at Eagle and saturday and sunday at Lakeside. Now the USAC schedule shows thursday at Eagle and friday and saturday at Lakeside. Is anyone sure which is correct.

USAC tweeted the following on Thursday afternoon:
Clarification: AMSOIL National Sprint Cars will contest June 23rd, on June 24th & June 25-26!

I see that once again USAC can't be bothered with scheduling a trip to Osky for what was the Ultimate Challenge. It blows that we here in Iowa are totally shut out from seeing the non wing cars anymore. I would like to change USAC's nickname to USUC!!!

I hate these types of posts. USAC is in the business of scheduling races. They want to schedule races. However, if there is not a promoter willing to promote the race, there is nothing that the scheduling body can do. It is the job of the promoter to pick the series/event that he thinks will have the best risk versus reward ratio. Booking a non wing race in a hot bed of winged racing has a higher risk than booking a wing race. Will there be considerable more fans coming to the non-wing show that the wing show, probably not. Will there be more cars in the pits and the back gate be bigger, no it will be less.
In the winter months, message boards blow up with "They need to run series XXXXX at track YYYYY." Or the equally intelligent, " I remember when race ZZZZ was ran and I have no idea why it is no longer on the schedule" It all comes down to economics. If the promoter makes money on an event, he will re-book it. If the promoter losses money on an event, he will cancel it. Also, does the promoter have the resources to have a bad night? Having a rain out when having a special show could negate the profits of the rest of the year.

Is USAC perfect? Far from it, But they want to have a national tour with under 50 races so you don't need five cars and four motors to complete the season. Osky for whatever reason wasn't working out and others stepped in. USAC is also a sanction that almost never loses $$ on shows unless weather keeps people away.
Want Non Wing in IOWA? Put up some $$ you'll get some cars.

Terry McCarl replied back to me last year that USAC didn't want a race at OSKY , as it was the only one in that area . It would be nice to see Knoxville put back a race back on Sunday night or Saturday then for USAC to go over OSKY .But it probably won't happen because like it was said it is wing territory and I think Knoxville wasn't satisfied with last race they had there . I strongly believe fans should see variety especially at Knoxville , the so called sprint car capital .

The "so called" sprint car capitol? Knoxville has the highest paying and most prestigious event in all of sprint car racing, Knoxville also has one of if not the nicest track in all of sprint car racing (I figured since you get a stiffy over seeing state of the art facilities with pearly whites shitters this would means something to you but I guess not) and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum is located right outside the track. Knoxville is THE sprint car capitol of the world and if you think otherwise, you're beyond help. Which actually, you are beyond help and I'm not even sure why I wasted my time typing this. I'd probably have more success trying to teach Portuguese to a giraffe.

They had 46 one year for the 30k to win show under the sprint bandits sanction.
Then they went to usac and the car count dropped immediately. Then the purse was cut.
Car counts dropped even more, then the narrative was, well how do you expect non winged teams to go all the way out there for one race?
So they added Knoxville. Then they tried a 2 day non-winged show at osky. Car counts didnt improve. The last year I think they had low 20s for car count, the race was run in lousy weather, crowd was down and here we are.

I know it is the sprint car capitol and I am aware of facts you stated but they should bring more variety like USAC BACK TO Knoxville , don't you think ? they did before ? or is it because the non-wing may put on a better program then there marquee winged sprints ? I love them both but I think when track is right non-wing puts on a better show regardless of their slower speeds .

Your facts are right , thats the way it happened I do believe . They didn't do a good job marketing or advertising the USAC show at Knoxville , Terry Mc Carl did however and he wants them back is my understanding .

I have an idea Bob. I think they need to have winged sprints without wings. Also, they need to have 410 sprints with 360's under the hood and to top it off, I think wingless sprints with wings would be the icing on the cake. If they did that, would you be happy then?
