Dear Tmac,

I hope the Knoxville faithful will continue to get to see you race Saturday nights at Knoxville instead of racing up north at Badlands. I'm sure Chuck is catering to some of the top talent, with you included.

Happy belated birthday. I hope you had fun at the concert!

Sincerely

Your fan!

Thanks! Had a great birthday. Not sure where our team will be running weekly in '16 or Austin's for that matter. Carson has a car now but needs a motor. As you know it all depends on sponsors & where they want us to compete. The future of sprint car racing looks pretty bright in the midwest!

Our family are also hoping you will stay at Knoxville for the 2016 season and run the NSL, Jackson, etc......I have no doubt that you can win the NSL Championship! 2015 started out badly for you as we all know, and even though the Muddy team was strong, they got some awfully good re-draws during the first half of the season that put them in a great position for the year. Stay home where we can watch you run!

A positive post about T-Mac, what a nice surprise.  He might be losing his number 2 status behind Sammy as the most picked on in this forum, about friggin' time.  I know having posted this some jack-@$$ will come on and start running his mouth, when he's really just jealous of Terry's ability or roommate, five four three two........

PS  By the way, he wears more hats and does more things involving this sport than anyone and he does them all well..

If you look at Terrys house and miles to Knoxville, then to Husets my guess he will be at Knoxville.  It takes alot of time and money to travel to Husets.  Hope he is at Knoxville all season.

I never understood why McCarl catches so much crap on here. One of the main complaints on here, about tracks and promoters, is lack of entertainment at the races (I never understood that theory, because the entertainment I go to the racetrack for is racing.) No one can say Terry McCarl doesn't provide entertainment at the races he promotes. Also, unless I've missed something, I've never known Terry to be a dirty driver or not fan friendly.

If your racing for a living it boils down to money.. Badlands is 5G  to win .. NSL at Jackson is 5G also ? Not sure but T-Mac is always in the hunt at "Husets" and he was at Brennans news conference I think.. The 3 car is probably in the same boat. And throw in a 360 for Sunday for another $2500 ....

Unless Terry is getting a big check upfront to run Badlands, to me it's a no brainer for him to run the NSL 100% of the series. Purse breaks down like this....First place at both.....$5000., second place NSL $3800. Badlands pays 2500., 3rd place NSL $3200., B'land  pays 2000., from there it's like this.... 4th 2500. vs 1500., 5th 2000 vs 1250., 6th 1900. vs1000., 7th 1800. vs 950., 8th 1700. vs 900., 9th 1600. vs 850., and 10th 1500. vs 825. That is of course based on 100% NSL participation, which Terry can do. Competeing in the NSL series puts a driver at approxamately 30 events. A driver of Terry's caliber would pick up some real healthy change running the NSL. And McCarl is also very good and "in the hunt" at Knoxville and Jackson. Oh, and....my prediction..... the 3 car with Kaeding will be running the NSL.

Would agree with this as the NSL purse is really good and there is a great point fund at the end of it.  The big BUT, is who is going to be running the NSL series and who is going to run Badlands and who has sponsors that they need to support.  I get thte 3 car running the NSL, but if I was a Sioux Falls based sponsor, I would not be thrilled that my sponsorship dollars are down in Knoxville on Saturdays instead of Sioux Falls.

I think Terry's decision is different as his will come down to who runs the NSL.  If your choice is racing against Lasoski, Brown, Sides, etc on Saturdays vs. Zomer, Rosenboom, etc, the chances of winning at Badlands are a lot greater.  Don't forget Terry would also get the $400 travel money on top of the purses.

The McCarls are unique in the fact that they are a racing family. I am gonna go out on a limb and say you might just see Terry run 100 percent NSL/Knoxville and Austin run Jackson and Badlands! They could cash in and market their sponsors all over map at the same time!

Thanks for a good post. Just wanted to clear up a few things.

We have re-thought our position on the minimum NSL purse. Every race team that competes with the NSL in 2016 will be running for the same nightly purse, regardless whether they are a member or not, and regardless if they have 100% attendance or not. The minimum purse for an NSL single event, or the second night of a (2) day event, in 2016 is $5,000 to win and $700 to start. We have a number of events scheduled that will pay more than the minimum purse.

Also, I did say earlier that we will not schedule any weekday events in 2016, but I forgot about the FRC when I stated that. Terry, Lori and myself are currently in discussions and hopefully we can have the NSL back at Osky in 2016.

As everybody knows, the majority of our 2016 NSL schedule does include Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, MN and Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA but it will also include about (12) more NSL events at various race tracks in the Upper Midwest. Our schedule is 95% complete and will be released next week during the PRI show in Indianapolis.

We hope everybody has a great Holiday season and we can not wait for the 2016 NSL season to start...z

That is awesome news regarding the NSL purse.

While not a McCarl fan myself, it would be wierd not seeing him at Knoxville every Saturday night, but I can totally understand if he makes the decision to run Badlands (you have to go where your sponsors want you to be).

Whatever his decision, it will be based on what's best for his TEAM and FAMILY, and for that no one should hold any ill-will toward him.

Having said that, there are 3 payouts of $5000 to win on 2 nights every weekend a majority of the summer all within a 5 hours of each other.  I would think that is good for all midwest based teams (MN, IA, NE, MO, IL, KS, SD, ND) and maybe even some of those that dropped off the WoO Tour (would love to see Jason Sides or Kraig Kinser run here in the Midwest for a season or two).

I'm pretty sure he would be facing Dobmeier at Badlands, also. Yeh, winning features at Badlands may be easier than with the NSL based on the competition, but.....it looks to me like any driver that can run in the top 10 consistently or better, and run both Jackson and Knoxville are ahead by a minimum of about $1000.00 a weekend plus the year end points money of the NSL. Plus, the cotingencies that Knoxville offers drivers at the end of the year based on how many times they run there is pretty healthy.  Also, I don't think by any means that running at Badlands would be "cherry picking", but if you want to beat the best and are considered good enough to do so when the big shows come around, you best be running against the best any time you can. That means running the NSL!

I'm surprised I haven't seen an announcement by the NSL regarding this, Chuck. Pretty big deal, in my opionion.

Rob,

Kinda figured with the PRI show only a week away, that would be the best place and time to release a bunch of "official" information. Maybe see you in Indy?...z

I realize that. Chuck is a good friend of mine.

Got it, Chuck. Good move by NSL/Knoxville, in my opinion.

No, I won't be at PRI. Hope you have a good time. Exciting times!
