Jerry McClung Grand Marshal of the Hall of Fame Classic

Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (October 1st, 2015) – Phoenix, Arizona’s, Jerry McClung, will be honored as Grand Marshal for the 15th Annual USAC Sands Chevrolet Hall of Fame Classic at Canyon Speedway. The Hall of Fame Classic, a raced named for celebrating Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame members as well as induction ceremonies October 23rd and 24th.

The “Termite” Jerry McClung captured two Arizona Racing Association Sprint Car Championship in 1967 and 1968 and spent many years battling with Arizona’s best becoming one of the winningest drivers in Arizona Super Modified history.

McClung, who captured the 1970 Western World Championship’s Title, earned a place in the Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame by being one of the most versatile and competitive racers in his era winning more than 100 events in and around Arizona along with 10 USAC National Midget features and finishing as high as third in the USAC National Midget Series in 1970.

McClung will be among several Arizona racing legends scheduled to sign autographs at the upcoming Hall of Fame Classic along with many more Arizona racing legends as Arizona Hall of Fame inducts five new members in to the Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame Classic, presented by Sands Chevrolet, found a home at the Peoria, Arizona race track in 2010 and has quickly become one of the marquee events of the 30 year old facility. The combination of the USAC CRA Sprint Cars and the tradition of the Hall of Fame Classic will likely make for a formidable West Coast Sprint Car event.

The Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame was founded in 1986 when the first 10 members were inducted. Since its inception, more than 120 new members have been elected to the elite group that is occupied with a rich racing heritage, one that is abundant with tradition and prestige. The members list is impressive and each of them has made a considerable impact on racing across the country.

Two-day tickets ordered by October 15 will be just $40, a savings off the single day ticket prices of $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday. Two-day passes after the October 15 advanced ticket deadline will be $45.
