NEXT CHALLENGE FOR MSCS IS ON SUNDAY OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Haubstadt, IN - August 29, 2015 - Labor Day Weekend is one weekend that racing is always on the schedule at the Tri-State Speedway. This season the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will once again be headlining the action to be presented on Sunday night September 6th. The feature for the sprint cars will be paying $3,000 to win. The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds and the MMSA Mini Sprints will complete an all open wheel triple header. The Sunday night date at Tri-State Speedway is an added opportunity for some 410 non-wing sprint car teams to race during the holiday weekend. This is the second of only two Sunday night race dates at the track this season for the MSCS Sprints. So far this season 113 drivers have competed in the MSCS Sprint Car Series. The final countdown to the 2015 MSCS Championship continues. There are only 4 races left counting the Labor Day Weekend Challenge! The September 6th event at Haubstadt is the first of three races to be held there in September. As the season winds down, drivers will be making renewed efforts to collect the greatest share of the remaining purses and a lions share of the season points fund which is sponsored by Hoosier Racing Tire. This should be a September to Remember! Brady Short continues to lead in the MSCS Points Standings. He reclaimed the lead during an ongoing MSCS winning streak which now stands at five feature wins in a row. Short won every MSCS feature in an Accelerated August. Those wins came at five different tracks in two states. The first of five wins was at Tri-State Speedway and he will be bringing the streak back to that track to begin September. Short and Stanbrough are now tied with 20 wins each in leading the series in All Time Feature Wins. Jon Stanbrough’s 20th win was at the Labor Day Weekend Challenge at Tri-State last year. Carson Short is second in the MSCS Standings. He had led the points on four different occasions this season. The difference is now 46 points with 70 on the line at each event. 2014 Rookie of the Year James Lyerla has moved up to third place in the standings. This year’s leading rookie Brandon Morin is currently 8th in the standings. Robert Ballou and Donny Brackett complete the top five list. The Labor Day Challenge has been sanctioned by MSCS since 2004. Former winners in addition to Jon Stanbrough are Blake Fitzpatrick, Scotty Weir, Hunter Schuerenberg, Chris Windom, and Daron Clayton. A strong field of top drivers are expected to take the green flag and the impending challenge it presents. The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds have competed at the speedway seven times this season. The top drivers by virtue of capturing modified victories are Trent Young, Zach Fair, Matt Lane, Josh Harris, and Dustin Beck. Young and Fair have posted two feature wins each. Fair has won the last two events. Harris and Stephen Schnapf have a pair of runner-up finishes each. Dustin Beck was third in three of the feature races completed. Andy Bradley won the feature in the only MMSA Mini Sprint Race held so far this year at Haubstadt. The mini sprints will return one more time with a date on October 10th. The MSCS Sprint Cars will join with the USAC Sprints to present the Haubstadt Hustler on September 19th. That is the biggest event for the season. The feature that night will pay $10,000 to win. The UMP Mods will also race during that program.
