Until somebody does I just don't see anybody beating him in the Nationals unless he has a very bad opening night. Would love to see an underdog win it!

I don't think qualifying night effects Donny. He came from the B a few years ago.
If someone wants to beat him, they're going to have to have their car right from laps 30-50 Saturday night. That's when the 15 usually makes it happen. Brown's been close a few times. Stewart has the capability. And the Dude has to be up there based on his performances this year as well.
15 is still the big favorite but I wouldn't be surprised if his streak was broken.

As silly as this sounds, the 50 laps makes it more possible to dethrone Schatz.
While the 50 laps certainly aided his win a couple years ago from deep in the field, the longer the race runs, the more the chance for bad things to happen. It also allows time to push the cushion further and further up the track & away from the middle where Schatz runs so well. The fuel stop also allows for somebody to take a "big swing" at the setup & turn their car into a 25 lap lightning rod.
That said, he still owns the race whether it's 35, 40 or 50 laps. I still think he wins until proven otherwise. But the streak will end someday. Not a matter of "if" but "when."
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

Remember when we were saying the same thing about Steve?
Ha Ha. Just gotta appreciate it while it lasts. I am not a Donny fan, but I love what he is doing right now. Good for him.
What would be the best case scenario Saturday night? Who would you love to see win it?

I'm cheering for Stewart to win it all in 2015!
You can tell an ass... but, you can't tell 'em much

Anyone from PA, just so I could watch Message Board Anarchy.
But seriously.... Anyone from PA.

That would be cool. (Not the message board anarchy thing)
Who was the last PA guy to win it? Oh yeah, Tim Shaffer. Cool when Bobby won it also.
PA used to have a really good showing, Kenny Weld, Jan Opperman. Was Wolfgang considered Posse for awhile? I guess he was.

Let's not forget Stevie Smith. Doesn't seem like too many people are talking about him but the combo of Stevie, Fred and Moon has been magic since their first night out and they're as good right now as anyone is. He's one of the very few that I think can run with Donny right now. He's got a lot of experience at Knoxville and has been very good there in the past. I won't be the least bit surprised if he runs top 3, in fact, I pretty much expect him to do so.

Yes, there is a possibility that all the names mention here could dethrone Schatz , they have to out smart him at his own game and make him run hard as he does to a lot of drivers , stalk him not allow him to set pace . This 50 lap distance is good for him cause he can set up car for another 25 laps , but he has the ace , the best crew chief of all the teams . The best thing for sprint car racing and Knoxville is for someone else to win the Nationals .

I think Schatz has another 5-6 years in a row where he is unbeatable, then he wil get upset in the year 2020 or 2021 (but still finishes 2nd). Then he will rattle off another 3 wins in a row then maybe tail off in the mid 2020's when he starts running late models full time.

I have no idea and that's why I'm heading down there. I'd hate to be sitting at home if/when somebody else takes his title for a year.
