Does anyone have the complete results from this race?  It was billed as a Nationals, but only 16 cars showed up and Fridays A featrure was only 12 laps.  There has not been any results posted for either night, or I just don't know where to look.  The NCRA website hasen't been updated with any results in over a month and their facebook page offers no information.

Once, the premier sanctioning group in the central USA, is just barely surviving.  What is the problem?  I know that an offer was made last winter by a reputable party to buy the sprint series but was turned down.  Now it looks as if there is not much left to buy.

We went to this race every year when I was a kid throughout the 70's and 80's.  I wasn't there the year of the fire but my most vivid memory is probably Leep winning in the missile car.  I went back a few years ago and there weren't very many cars and the feature was 15 laps.  It used to be 50.  I know that's not realistic with the winged sprinters vs the days of the super modifieds, but 15 laps is a disservice to a race with that kind of history and which still refers to itself as The Grand Nationals.  They made some poor excuse about the heat or something, but that thing used to be run during the heat of the day, so I'm not buying it.

The results should be posted later today or tomorrow on Speednet. Heat races were run Friday night for the NCRA Sprints, NCRA Modifieds, Street Stocks and Thumpers. Two feature qualifiers were run in the modifieds. The only feature ran Friday night was in the Thumpers (stock cars). It was won by Rick Mueller from Wichita, Ks. First Hutchinson Nationals win for Rick after 45 years of trying in different classes. Feature events for the NCRA Sprints, NCRA Modifieds, Heat races and Feature for the NCRA Late Models and the feature event for the Street Stocks were run on Saturday night. Have a little patience and the results will be posted later.

The sprint feature Saturday night was 20 laps and it went green white checkered. There were 16 cars. J. D. Johnson won the event by 10 car lengths over ex World of Outlaw driver Jeremy Campbell. It would be a disservice to the fans and the drivers to run feature events with more laps when you only have 16 cars and the only passing is from 12th place on back on a half mile track. This was the 59th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals Auto Races. It is a tradition and the name is a tradition and there is no reason to change a tradition after 59 years just because of low car counts or low lap amounts. The history of the Nationals is there and things change but you don't mess with or change traditions. I have been going there for years myself and I was there the day of the fire and it was a horrible sight. But as much as some things change some things remain the same. For the two nights it was a great show and one thing remains the same, it was still HOT!

While you took the time to post the 1st and 2nd place, why not list the rest of the field.  The vast majority of tracks and sanctioning bodies have a PR person or someone assigned to post and update websites, facebook pages etc.  Why can't the NCRA provide this.  It's no wonder the car counts are down and few attend the events, Theres very little marketing to let people know of the events and the NCRA are the last to post results.  Wow! a Nationals with 16 cars, 2 heats and 1 feature with 20 laps.  Yep, there is " no reason to change a tradition after 59 years just because of low car counts or low lap amounts".

The amount of cars or laps do not determine what name an event should be called. This was named 59 years ago why change it now. Do you think if there were low car counts at the Knoxville Nationals they would change the name? No they wouldnt't and you would be the only one that would think they should. The event is a longtime tradition and the name goes with it.

I never suggested changing the name.  But do something.  Run twin features, run a couple rounds of qualifying inverting the field.  Something.  Just don't make it a charade.

Only reason there were not many cars is it must not pay enough. It isnt that far for teams to go from Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma so over 30 cars shouldn't be that difficult. I do hope the series gets sold because it has alot of potential l think.

Oh yeah, I agree.  It used to be a great series and Hutch was its crown jewel.  Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the race taken over by the ASCS.  As you mentioned its location, it's right in their backyard.  I know it'll probably never happen because of who's in bed with whom, but the facilities there and the tradition that race brings should be utilized to the fullest.
