I think its a kind of "old timers game" Fast Freddy Rahmer is promoting, he was talking about it at Path Valley speedweek race. Don't know details, I assume they're driving sprint cars

I heard talk when I was in Burlington at 34 this Spring, A man from SD said Wolfie was getting back into racing to some degree. I thought he was full of it!! Sounds like there might be some truth to it...
Wish him all the best...

The names mentioned for this Legends race are Wolfgang, Kauffman, Smith Sr., Siegel, Stambaugh, Adams, Shaffer, Pauch, C. Eash, and even saw Paxton mentioned once. I know there is a name I'm forgetting too. Supposedly on August 26th at Lincoln.
Doug mentioned this on Winged Nation about three weeks ago and said he was running a retro Weikert #29. Supposed to be more news released soon per Rahmer Promotions.

I was in Doug's shop in very early spring and he had a chasis on the jig and was just finishing the welds up on it. I asked him "who is this one for? " and he said "ME"....I about fell over! Then he explained that he and Robby were going to run a IMCA 305 and that "because I'm getting old and getting bored I needed something to do". His plans were to drive the car a couple times this Summer, but the car was really for Robby. Being his humble self, he also recognized that it's been 18 years since he sat in one and didn't have expectations of doing very good if he did drive it. Of course all of his fans, myself included, don't care about the result. Re-living his ackomplishments for only a few minutes while watching him throttle a sprint car will be enough! He may have already known that Fred Rahmer had something of interest brewing but he didn't say. A post on this subject mentions a 410 engne for the event, but I highly doubt that will be the case.

With $20 admission, a regular 358 purse and a total $10,000 shotout purse unless the ledgions race pays a lot it looks like the biggest winner will be Fred Rhamer promotions.

Not sure how I feel about it to be honest. It would be cool, but most of those guys got out of a racecar for a reason. Also, everybody seems to forget when Larry Pearson was damn near killed during a similar exhibition at Bristol years ago.

OKAY, 410's it is. Thanks "tenter"! And Thanks" PA Posse fan" for posting the link. Anyone know if Rahmer production has plans for a PPV provider? If not, he should. I gotta believe it would pull a great number of viewers. Wolfgang fans alone would be a large number.

A part of me feels the same way as you do. Not real comfortable with it. In the same breath, seats and cars are much safer today than they've ever been.

I like the idea, just don't think it is fair throwing 6 current drivers into the mix. Rahmer is sharp though. He must believe a legend might still win and he is trying to up the credibility.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car
much less chromoly...http://www.ycmco.com

I don't know what you read or heard but the current drivers are NOT racing with the legends. The legends are doing their own program of heat races and a 20 lap feature while the current drivers are running their very own series of shootout races which pays $10,000 to the overall winner and not a single cent for anyone else. They will not be racing against each other at all.

Just like they did when they raced full time, these guys know their risks and they know their limits. Could something bad happen? Of course it could just like it could when you're driving down the highway or standing under a tree when the wind is blowing. I trust that all of them will know their limits and won't push the issue too much so I'm not all that concerned. I think it will be great to have a night like this that will bring back so many great memories for all of the fans and certainly the drivers themselves.
