Barryc definatly one of biggest crowds at duquoin since ive been going in mid 80s. Good car count faster times later in qualifing. Cottle fasted 31.92 and only challenged in traffic by stenhouse couple times. Getting good before last red by hud cone in galas 12 hard in turn 1head on into wall but walked away. After that was all cottle had good engine and setup stenhouse2nd and bud kaeding3rd.Decent show on mile good talking to petey from misery aka missouri and enjoying some fair food and racing.

Kind of like last year the track slicked off early and took some rubber. You always wish that next year will be better but the racing has slacked off since the first two races they ran under the lights. Still DuQuoin at night time is a sight to see. I just hope the weather is cooler next time and/or the track personel puts in some more prep time.

Mat Neely put on a drive early in the race but then just settled in somewhat and never really made it towards the front of the pack. Ray Bull and Hud Cone's wrecks were hard and I'm glad they were ok. Stenhouse well he was his usual exciting self and was fun to watch all night. There was one time when Bud was making a move on Cottle then a yellow came out and when Cone wrecked the top four of Cottle, Lil' Ricky, Bud and Darland were nose to tail. Would have been a good finish if it stayed that way to the end. Great win for Shane he deserved it!

Can't complain about the scenery me and loud pedal had infront of us! (.Y.)

Good report Petey...

I came looking for you after quals, but shoot those new turn 1 bleachers are huge and there were a lot of people in them!

Agree about the big crowd and that the first two years have left us a little bit wanting compared to the last two years. But still, you can see non wing and winged stuff all year long, but DuQuoin under the lights only comes once a year and I'd never miss it.

Cottle's parents were sitting right in front of us. Nice folks...we were sure happy for them. Those slide jobs Stenhouse was doing around lap 95 didn't help him; once he kept it straight he could get back to Cottle's bumper but that was it.

Has anyone heard any news about Silver Crown in '08?

Oh yeah, a buddy said the midget show Saturday night was really good.

If no red on lap 87 stenhouse beats cottle. Had him ran down and fixing to put him away when the red flies on lap 87.

I have attended every Silver Crown race at DuQuoin since 1965. I felt the race resembled a daytime show. The first year under the lights was sensational, but since then there is little difference from the daytime races of the past. Concerning the crowd, I sit in Sec. EE of the Upper Grandstand and I saw more empty seats than I ever remember seeing. I felt the crowd was down considerably from last year. Many of the regulars that always sat around me were missing. When I first started going to DuQuoin every seat was filled all the way down to the stage, and they even sold standing room. If they aren't going to prepare the track for a good show at night, then I would like to see a return to the traditional daytime show, so that I, and others, have the chance to take in the show at Haubstadt. Last year Tri-State ran on a Saturday night because it was a co-sanctioned show with MSCS so fans could attend both races. Many DuQuoin fans are Haubstadt fans, so we have to choose. Since I buy my tickets in the spring when they send out the form, I have already made my choice well in advance and can only hope Tri-State Speedway schedules to my liking. Funny thing, these track promoters never check with me before they make their schedules.

Its good to have choices.

For those that like the Silver Crown on the big tracks, you could go there. For those of us that would rather go for 40 laps of intense non wing sprintcars, then Haubstadt was it.

You just have to figure out which one you like better. For me the choice was easy. Who wouldnt want to watch Daron Clayton run at Haubstadt ???? (or anywhere else for that matter)

I thought this years crowd was equal to or better than the past few years... Definitely up since they've gone to the night races. Cooler temps and a little overcast would have helped with track prep. Sunny and near 100 made it tough to get a tacky track.

I agree about the good thing about choices. I've seen nearly 20 sprint car races this year, but only a couple of the 100 lap dirt champ car shows. They'r both good, just different... The dirt champ cars on the miles are a beautiful thing

After the draught that Southern Illinois has endured this summer, the track was much better than I was expecting. Corn & Soy Beans we saw on the way to the track looked terrible. Beans looked stunted & the corn looked like it was ready to spontaneously combust. When they came through the pit area with the water truck, they did one pass from the front stretch toward the back and when they came back the other way, you couldn't see where they had sprayed on their way in. That's DRY!

Every team I talked to complained that they couldn't get the car hooked up well. Everyone said they were "Loose off" the corners & had to wait to get on the gas.

Still had a fun time. Brought 3 Silver Crown/mile track virgins with me. It was neat to see the looks on their faces when they saw how big the track is. Hung out with some friends, worked on my favorite type of race car & drank some Beer. Man, it was Heaven!
